Pakistan's Defense Minister Asif said there have been very strong people-to-people bound, historical relations and the friendship between China and Pakistan that has seen test of the time.
They also vowed to promote cooperation in fields ranging from trade, finance and infrastructure to high-end manufacturing, new energy, environmental protection, bio-pharmaceutical technology and capital market, and expand people-to-people exchanges.
"We want to see more understanding and trust, less estrangement and suspicion, in order to forestall misunderstanding and miscalculation," the president told the welcoming banquet.
The letter calls on President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama to underscore the importance of the BIT during Xi's upcoming state visit to the US as a way to spur the negotiations between the two countries.
Xi said China welcomes the active participation of all concerned parties, including the United States, in China-proposed initiatives like the Belt and Road and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, adding that they are open, transparent and inclusive.
