MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The former Minneapolis police officer seen kneeling on George Floyd’s neck before his death has now been charged with the man's murder. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday afternoon that ex-officer Derek Chauvin has been taken into custody and charged with 3rd degree murder, as well as manslaughter.Watch Freeman announce the charges against Chauvin in the press conference below:Chauvin is one of four officers who have been fired from the Minneapolis Police Department for their alleged role in Floyd’s death. Freeman said he expects charges to be filed against the other officers as well, but his team felt it was "appropriate to focus on the most dangerous perpetrator." Chauvin’s arrest comes less than a day after Freeman and other officials asked the public to give them time to make a charging decision in the case. During the Thursday press conference, Freeman actually told reporters, “There is other evidence that doesn’t support a criminal charge.” Now, Freeman says his team has enough evidence to charge.“We have now been able to put together the evidence that we need. Even as late as yesterday afternoon, we didn’t have all that we needed. We have now found it and have felt a responsibility to charge this as soon as possible," Freeman said Friday.Below is the criminal complaint filed against Chauvin: 1376

The second and final presidential debate was held on Thursday night. People from around the country watched President Donald Trump and Joe Biden used words some may not have known the definition for.According to Merriam-Webster, there are several words that are trending after the debate, including "malarkey," which was used by Biden, and "coyote," which Trump used to talk about illegal immigration.Malarkey was the top trend, according to the site, with searches spiking 500% during the debate.According to Merriam-Webster, "Malarkey is defined as “insincere or foolish talk; bunkum.” The word has been in use since the early 20th century, and is of unknown origin."Fracking was the second-highest trend after it came up several times during the debate. Searches increased 4,000%, according to the site."The definition of fracking is "the injection of fluid into shale beds at high pressure in order to free up petroleum resources (such as oil or natural gas)."Searches for coyote spiked 675% during the debate, according to Merriam-Webster. Most people know what a coyote is, but the way Trump used it was different. Merriam-Webster said "it also has a slang meaning that was used during the debate: 'one who smuggles immigrants into the U.S.'" This story originally reported by Max White on wxyz.com. 1329

TAMPA, Fla. -- With a mandatory mask order underway in the city of Tampa, Will Rivera made sure every customer covered up when inside GNC on South Howard Avenue. "You can’t keep social distancing inside the store because it’s a very small location, it’s not possible. You have more than two, three customers in there, it’s definitely not possible so the safest thing to do is wear a mask," said Rivera. Rivera said he was fired last week for turning away customers not wearing face coverings. Rivera says his district manager stepped in, stating they would not lose sales over the mask mandate. "This is a store founded on health and wellness and it seems like there’s no care of health and wellness of individuals that come into the store, other than profit," said Rivera. After several attempts, GNC has yet to return any calls or emails seeking comment about Rivera's termination or corporate mask policy. This comes as the supplement and vitamin chain announced it has declared bankruptcy and plans to close 800 stores. Rivera's attorney, Jason Woodside, sent the following statement: "Florida's Private Whistleblower Statute provides broad protection for employees who object to, or refuse to participate in, any activity, policy, or practice of an employer which is in violation of a law, rule, or regulation. Given the recent "face covering" laws enacted to ensure public safety, Mr. Rivera believes his termination was unlawful and we are reviewing the best course of action to seek redress."
