TAMPA, Fla. ¡ª George Streets, Jr., is just 10-years-old and he¡¯s somewhat of a boxing phenom.¡°When I was little, I always wanted to box,¡± George, Jr. said.His trainer Malcolm Peck has been working with George for about a year.¡°The determination, the way he processes things, the energy he has is different,¡± Peck said. ¡°It¡¯s definitely different.¡±When George was a 2-year-old, he would walk around the house punching everything in his path.¡°T trained by punching the couch,¡± he said. ¡°My dad would be asking me what I was doing. I¡¯d be ¡®ha, ha, ha, ha¡¯ punching the couch.¡±¡°He punched a hole in the side of that couch,¡± his father George, Sr. added.And, that¡¯s how he got the nickname ¡ª Lil Savage. He¡¯s mildly autistic and diagnosed with an extreme case of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Boxing has improved his focus.¡°Boxing allows you to utilize that energy, stay focused, if you¡¯re not focused and you look to your left or right, you¡¯re going to get hit in the face,¡± George, Sr. said. ¡°It¡¯s going to hurt pretty bad."¡°It helps him with his attention span tremendously. His grades have improved. He went from being a D-F student to an A-B student.¡±Lil Savage trains for about four hours each day. He wakes up a 5 a.m. for conditioning drills and goes to the boxing gym after school.The hardest part for him getting into the ring was finding a trainer willing to work with such a young boxer.¡°No one wanted to train me because I was a little kid,¡± George, Jr. said. ¡°But when I showed them I could spar, then they really wanted to train me.¡±He knows the stakes are high with gloves on in the ring, and he wants to be on top.¡°My goal is to be the best boxer and be myself.¡±You can see Lil Savage in action later this month. The banana phone is back.A startup that licenses the Nokia phone brand has unveiled a new version of the 8110, a curved mobile phone that was first released in 1996 and featured in "The Matrix."The phone, which is offered in banana yellow and black, will sell for €79 (). It comes loaded with a new version of the game Snake, Finnish startup HMD said in a statement."This is a return to the glory years of Nokia," said Ian Fogg, senior analyst at IHS Markit. "But it also includes all the new technology."The 8110 comes with 4G, and a handful of apps including Google Maps, Facebook and Twitter. But it doesn't have a flashy operating system and users won't be able to download other popular apps.Fogg said that basic -- or "feature" -- phones are appealing because they are reliable, and can run for a long time on a single charge. The 8110 goes 25 days in standby mode, for example.Nokia used to be the world's largest maker of mobile phones, but it struggled to adapt to the era of smartphones and compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.Microsoft purchased the company's handset business in 2013, but later unwound the deal. Nokia now focuses on making technology for telecommunications networks.HMD, which has licensed the Nokia brand since 2016, sold over 70 million handsets in 2017, according to IHS. The American Red Cross is now checking all blood donations for coronavirus antibodies, instead of just searching for recovered patients. The organization is calling it a ¡°game changer.¡±¡°We can then not only inform that donor of the testing results that we've identified COVID-19 antibodies in their blood, but also use that product as convalescent plasma to help patients who are ill with COVID-19 in the hospital,¡± said Dr. Pampee Young, Chief Medical Officer at the American Red Cross.Early results from the National Institutes for Health show the plasma can make a big difference for severely sick COVID-19 patients. And data from these new tests will help those researchers working to better understand the virus.The Red Cross says the need for whole blood donors is constant, but plasma is more unpredictable.Over the summer, plasma supplies ran low after unprecedented infections and demand in some states.Now, they're asking more donors to step up to restock for another potential surge in the fall and winter.¡°Because we can¡¯t predict the demand, we want to ensure that we have enough inventory, because what really saves lives are the units that are on the shelf, not something that we need to collect once we realize there¡¯s a need,¡± said Young.The Red Cross has taken additional safety steps during the pandemic. TAMPA, Fla. ¡ª A volunteer at Carole Baskin's Big Cat Rescue in Tampa was bitten by a tiger Thursday morning and sustained "an extreme injury to her arm."According to the organization, Candy Couser ¡ª who has volunteered with the animal sanctuary for five years ¡ª was injured while feeding a 3-year-old Tiger named Kimba on Thursday.According to a press release, Baskin said that Kimba nearly tore Couser's arm "off her shoulder" as she tried to feed him. The volunteers, according to the release, helped Couser stem the bleeding until an ambulance arrived and took her to St. Joseph's Hospital.Couser is expected to survive the attack.In the release, Baskin said that Couser had reached into a cage to open a door that had been clipped shut and that she should have contacted a supervisor when she realized the door was clipped. She also said Couser had violated protocols by putting her arm inside a cage with a tiger."Candy was still conscious and insisted that she did not want Kimba Tiger to come to any harm for this mistake," Baskin said in her press release. "(Kimba) is being placed in quarantine for the next 30 days as a precaution, but was just acting normal due to the presence of food and the opportunity."Baskin and Big Cat Rescue were featured prominently in the massively popular Netflix docuseries "Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.""Tiger King" spent much of its time focusing on the feud between Baskin and fellow big cat park owner Joe Exotic, which included accusations by him that Baskin was behind the disappearance of her ex-husband, Don Lewis. Baskin has denied those allegations and has not been charged with a crime in connection with Lewis' death.In January 2019, Joe Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison in connection with a murder-for-hire plot in an attempt to have Baskin killed. He was also convicted of several violations of the Endangered Species Act.Baskin was upset with how the show portrayed the captive tiger trade.Big Cat Rescue is closed to the public due to the coronavirus outbreak.
