Gibson's Chief Financial Officer, Bill Lawrence, left the firm six months before 5 million of senior secured notes were due to mature. Lawrence had been working for the company for little over a year before he left, reports say."Another 5 million in bank loans will come due immediately if those notes, issued in 2013, are not refinanced by July 23," the Nashville Post report says.Bond holders are frustrated.The Gibson company recently sold a former Baldwin Piano warehouse in The Gulch. The warehouse was sold for .4 million, the Nashville Post says."It also is trying to sell the nearby Valley Arts building on Church Street, although that deal has landed in court. A congressional delegation will visit the Customs and Border Protection (CPB) station in New Mexico on Tuesday where a 7-year-old Guatemalan girl was taken before she died in a hospital, a congressional aide says.Jakelin Caal Maquin and her father were among a group of 163 migrants detained by Border Patrol agents the night of December 6 in a remote area of the New Mexico desert, according to CPB. She became sick as they were being taken from the Antelope Wells port of entry in New Mexico to the station in Lordsburg, about 90 minutes away.Two days later, Jakelin was dead, officials said. She had vomited and stopped breathing while in Border Patrol custody and later went into cardiac arrest and suffered brain swelling at a Texas hospital.Eleven members of the House of Representatives, led by incoming Hispanic Caucus Chairman Rep. Joaquin Castro will tour the station in Lordsburg, New Mexico, on Tuesday, the congressional aide told CNN.CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan also is expected to take part in the tour, the official said.On Thursday, Castro issued a statement saying that he would be asking for a "full investigation by the Inspector General and Congress into the conditions and circumstances that led to (Jakelin's) death.""We can do better as a nation," he said. A Colorado man is changing the next chapter of history by helping his local library buy more books about Black history and cultural diversity.Kevin Gebert retired from the aerospace industry six years ago and started a nonprofit for minority children, but when COVID-19 shut down schools, he found himself with extra time. He used the spare time to read "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration" by Isabel Wilkerson. It's a book filled with lessons on Black history."I read this book and by the time I got a quarter of the way through it, I thought about the impact this book could have on school kids, adults," Gebert said.His curiosity took him to the Louisville Public Library, where he discovered the book selection on race and cultural diversity was slim. Gebert said the library only had one copy of "The Warmth of Other Suns," and 16 people were on a wait list."It will probably be into next year before everyone has had a chance to read it," he said.He launched a fundraiser with the library to expand the collection of culturally diverse books, books about Black history, race and equality.With the help of friends, Gebert compiled a list of 20 books to add to the library collection."(Library staff) are going to go through the list of books that were recommended and they will make the decision as to how many they buy," he said. A former University of Airzona athlete was the first witness today in the trial of a coach accused of choking her.Baillie Gibson was a shot put and discus thrower at Arizona. She says former track coach Craig Carter choked her and threatened to slash her with a box cutter when she tried to end a two-year sexual relationship.In opening statements, prosecutor Jonathan Mosher read the jury a series of texts between Gibson and Carter where he became more and more threatening as she said she planned to leave Tucson after graduating.She went to his office in McKale Center, the university's basketball arena and training center. That's where Carter allegedly choked her and threatened to slash her with a box cutter.Cater confessed to a University of Arizona Police officer. Carter's attorney, Dan Cooper, read the jury many of the same texts but said they show Carter's attack was the result of a momentary loss of control and was not the sort of deliberate attack required for a conviction.Prosecutors expect a short trial.The rest of their witness list only includes two police officers and a friend of Baillie Gibson. 1144
