OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man's body was found floating in the water near the Oceanside Pier a week after someone fell from the structure. According to Oceanside Police, the body was discovered by lifeguards around 12:30 p.m. Monday. Police haven’t identified the body at this time, but the incident comes after a man was presumed dead following a fall from the pier at 3 a.m. May 25. Officials are looking for the suspect responsible for a deadly stabbing in Phoenix.Phoenix police responded to an alley near 15th and Missouri avenues at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a stabbing. Officers were alerted to the incident after a passerby called 911 about a man stumbling in the roadway. When officers arrived on the scene they found 58-year-old Alfred Brown with multiple stab wounds. He told officers the suspect, a younger Hispanic male, was heavy set and wearing a white shirt. According to police, Brown was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.Brown was a known homeless man who stayed in the area. He was last seen in the area earlier in the day with a Hispanic male who matches the suspect description.   789

Both the COVID Tracking Project and Johns Hopkins report that Wednesday and Thursday marked the top two deadliest days since the start of the pandemic.The 3,000+ deaths represent more lives lost than in U.S. tragedies like the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks and the attack on Pearl Harbor prior to U.S. involvement in World War II.And while consecutive days of 3,000 death represent a level of loss not yet seen since the pandemic began, health officials warn that it could become the new normal — at least in the coming weeks. A spike in deaths typically trails a few weeks behind spikes in new cases and hospitalizations — both of which have been steadily increasing without respite for more than a month. Since Nov. 1, the seven-day average of new COVID-19 has exploded from 80,538 a day to 205,425 a day.
