Taco Bell said on Thursday that it is eliminating one of its most iconic and long-time menu items from its list of options. The Mexican Pizza will be removed from the Taco Bell menu starting November 5. Other items leaving the menu are the pico de gallo and shredded chicken. The shredded chicken is used in a number of items, including quesadillas, tacos and burritos.Taco Bell is adding a chicken chipotle melt, which is grilled chicken, creamy chipotle sauce and cheddar cheese; and the Dragonfruit Freeze, which is a tropical frozen beverage. The chicken chipotle melt joins the menu Nov. 5, while the Dragonfruit Freeze arrives on September 24.In July, Taco Bell announced several other menu items were leaving the menu, including the Nachos Supreme, Beefy Fritos Burrito, Grilled Steak Soft Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Spicy Tostada, Triple Layer Nachos, Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes and Loaded Grillers.Taco Bell said the changes to the menu is helping it in “creating a faster and more seamless restaurant experience.”“We’re constantly evaluating ways to provide a more efficient restaurant experience, and have already begun to see progress from streamlining our menu,” said Mike Grams, Taco Bell President, Global COO. “While we know fans may be understandably sad to see some of their favorites go, this evolution of our menu truly paves the way for fresh new ideas. The creativity and innovation in our kitchen hasn’t slowed down at all, and we look forward to rolling out new fan favorites.” 1524

gest campaign around International Women's Day, called We See Equal, in 2017 and continued to build on it this year.Allison Tummon Kamphuis, who leads P&G's gender equality program, explained that the company's first big push came after it named gender equality as one of its initiatives in 2016.In previous years, P&G observed International Women's Day internally, with lectures and events for staff. Now, the company hosts several public-facing events, including a discussion with Katie Couric and an interactive exhibit called "Women at Work: Myth vs Reality."Firat pointed to P&G as a company that has genuinely committed to promoting gender equality. While some brands have given International Women's Day a lot of thought, others are still trying to figure out a way in. Firat said that some companies hope a campaign featuring women's empowerment will help them reach Millennials, who tend to value brands that embrace social causes.Calkins suggested that some companies may also be chasing the success of others."Marketers watch what other marketers are doing," he said."When companies see high-profile campaigns that get some traction ... they are very quick to jump on the bandwagon."Though there are advantages to joining a conversation about gender, there are also risks. "If you're going to be out there celebrating your commitment to gender equality, then it does invite some scrutiny," Calkins said. One example, he said, is the "Fearless Girl" statue. The sculpture was conceived by the powerful financial group State Street and advertising firm McCann as a way to spread awareness of State Street's efforts to increase gender diversity on corporate boards. The campaign was an overwhelming success People fell in love with the statue of the defiant girl staring down the "Charging Bull" in New York City, and she quickly became a symbol of resistance and empowerment. But the sculpture's prominence put State Street in the spotlight when it agreed to pay million to settle allegations that it underpaid female and black employees. The firm denied any wrongdoing. And McDonald's, which has faced protests by employees seeking higher wages, is already being criticized for honoring the day with what some see as an empty gesture. 3975
Suspended Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer apologized on Friday, two days after Meyer failed to apologize to Courtney Smith, the ex-wife of fired OSU assistant coach Zach Smith.Meyer was suspended for three games on Wednesday by Ohio State's Board of Trustees and university president Michael Drake for mishandling notifying the university of allegations that Zach Smith had assaulted his wife in 2015. Meyer claimed to investigators that he had forgotten about the allegations as university officials claimed Meyer was bound by his contract to notify the department's compliance office of possible crimes involving his staff. At a news conference on Wednesday where Meyer's punishment was announced, Meyer was asked if he had anything to say to Courtney Smith. "I have a message for everyone involved in this. I'm sorry that we are in the situation. And I'm just sorry we are in this situation," Meyer replied, without mentioning Courtney Smith by name. After being criticized for failing to address Courtney Smith, Meyer issued a statement on Friday, apologizing to her. 1116
