and a shoe, according to court documents. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office released the probable cause charging documents Wednesday, which detail the argument that escalated into a domestic violence incident July 5. Court documents allege Portwood and her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, were going to see fireworks with their 1-year-old son at Geist Bridge when they got stuck in traffic and she became angry. The boyfriend told police that he dropped Portwood off at their home so she could "cool off" and took their son for a drive. When he returned home he said Portwood attacked him with a shoe so he left the house again. About three hours later, the boyfriend told police he came back home with a gift and food for Portwood and she came at him again while he was holding their son. In those court documents, the boyfriend claims Portwood threatened to kill herself and grabbed a handful of Klonopin and "tossed it back like it was nothing." When the boyfriend threatened to call for help she "regurgitated the pills."After that incident, the boyfriend claims Portwood came at him with a machete and he locked himself and their son into another room. He called for help as Portwood began hitting the door with the machete and kicking it until she broke the handle. Portwood broke down before police arrived and they had to call for backup after she began yelling at the officer. Portwood denied the incident with the pills and the machete but admitted to hitting her boyfriend while he was holding their son. 1517

Jalen had success with cochlear implants in the past, so on Thursday, the family traveled to Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.“It’s so exciting,” said A’Deja’s mom Patricia.Following the implant procedure, A’Deja heard her family’s voices for the first time. The toddler's grandparents were also there.“This moment never gets old,” said audiologist Shelly Ash. “It’s always so moving.”Cochlear implant technology has accelerated over the years. Now the technology can even be linked via Bluetooth.Kids have different reactions to hearing sound for the first time.“When we first start out, we’re introducing very soft levels of electrical current,” said Shelly Ash. “It just sounds to her like 'beep, beep, beep.'”For A’Deja, she was neither happy or scared. She was simply... amazed. Her eyes widen and her jaw dropped. She realized what it was: sound. And she turned her head when her mother said those three magic words: I love you.” 1018

is warning people about the red flags.Chelsea Earley almost fell for what she thinks is a scam after she read an email that popped up in her school inbox."Yeah because I was like 'oh it’s a job placement in student services, maybe it’s legit,' ” she said.It was enticing her with a 0 weekly paycheck if she kept up with their instructions. She put in her phone number and address and a week later she got a package in the mail. They opened it and found a check for ,355, plus detailed instructions that told her to deposit the check and then within 24 hours, buy two 0 Walmart gift cards, scratch off the back, take a picture and send it in so they can get their money back."I was like who is sending you a ,300 check? That’s insane. You’re 19 years old,” said Christy Bidgood, Earley’s mom.Her age falls in line with research from the Federal Trade Commission that say the highest number of fake check scam victims are people in their 20s because they don’t understand how checks work. The BBB says it can take a week or two for a check to bounce, yet banks typically release the money into the account sooner than that."Yeah I do have a lack of knowledge about checks so I think people that don’t understand checks, they are definitely going to fall for it,” Earley said. The BBB says be wary of a company that overpays an employee and then asks them for money to be wired elsewhere. They say no legitimate business would do this. The BBB doesn’t have record of the company’s business profile in their system, but they say at least seven other people have reported concerns through their 1598
