Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced on Tuesday an indictment against a Baltimore Police Officer seen punching a man in a viral video. The video was posted over the weekend and quickly spread around social media. It shows an officer, Arthur Williams, and a man yelling at each other, and then you see the officer punching the man. Williams is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and misconduct in office. The other officer seen in the video is not being charged. Mosby says her office has considered evidence that was public and transparent, but also other evidence as well. BRUSSELS — Belgian Foreign Minister and former Prime Minister Sophie Wilmes has been hospitalized in intensive care with COVID-19.Wilmes, who was in charge when the first wave of infections hit the country this spring, now serves in the new government led by Alexander De Croo.Elke Pattyn, a spokesperson at the Foreign Ministry, told The Associated Press that Wilmes is stable and conscious. She said her condition “is not worrying.”The 45-year-old Wilmes, who was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday evening, said last week she thought she got infected within her family circle.Belgium, a country of 11.5 million inhabitants, has been severely hit by COVID-19 and is currently seeing a sharp rise in new cases. BALTIMORE, Marlyland — A mother living without her teenage son who was shot and killed last year got to meet the girl whose life he saved with his heart.    Xavier Young was an organ donor.Although lost to gun violence, his gift saved more than one life — it saved an entire family."I think he really wanted me to see that he’s OK and his heart is also still going," said Jennifer Young.Young is Xavier's mother. He was 14 years old when he was shot and killed in Laurel, Maryland last year."We buried him a year ago back on (November 6) so this week has been really tough," Young said.But in darkness, there is a little light as Young met the girl who now holds her son's heart."My son would’ve loved to meet her in life and would’ve heard about her all the time so it’s bittersweet to me," said Young.For Gwendolyn Ihm's family, it was an emotional and humbling meeting."As we celebrate Gwendolyn’s heart transplant, we also have to remember that at that same time there’s another family that are remembering another year of not having their loved one with them," said Brian Ihm, whose daughter now has Young's heart.Ihm was diagnosed with leukemia before she was just 2 months old and the radiation wreaked havoc on her heart."Without Xavier’s heart Gwendolyn would not be at school, she would not be running around, she would not be able to participate like all the kids," Ihm said.Young heard her son's heart beating inside of Gwen."It’s not really him. It’s a piece, and that’s amazing too," said Young.The families have spoken but never met. "I just feel like they remind me so much of him. It’s like he went back to family is what I want to say," Young told WMAR.Xavier was able to donate seven organs and save five lives after his death last November."Without the help of God, maybe Jennifer (Young) wouldn't have made the decision that she made," said Ihm.The hope is for Gwen to be a normal 13-year-old."We just want her to have a couple of good years of health," Ihm said, "and Xavier’s gift has given us that." 2126

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – Millions of teachers are headed back to the classroom. But for many of them, it’s all remote. That means trying to teach through a screen. One teacher needed a way for his students to see what he was writing while still allowing them to see him teach. So, he came up with an innovative solution with a couple of pieces of wood and some imagination.With a miter saw, drill press and belt sander at the ready, Bob Pinta converted his home’s garage into a bustling workshop.The high school math and computer science teacher is solving an online teaching problem one contraption at a time.“I would be teaching, I could use my pen and share the screen, but no matter how good of a stylus you get, writing on the iPad is not the same as write it on paper,” said Pinta.Pinta found that his students could either see what he was writing or him, but not both. So, he designed a phone stand that could act as a virtual overhead projector.“I would join the zoom on my phone pointing the phone down at the table and I would have the students pin my hand so that it was the big one,” he explained.He says the height adjustable stand allows for a much more interactive lesson.“So, they would be able to follow along as I went, and they could see both my face and the paper as I zoom.”His wife posted a video to see if other teachers might be interested in one. It quickly racked up tens of thousands of views with orders pouring in from all over.“We have shipped across the United States.”Each weekend, they sit in the driveway for teachers wishing to pick one up in person. At plus shipping, Pinta says he wanted to keep the contraption, which doesn’t have an official name, affordable.“We wanted it cheap enough. It is called 'R-22.'R-22 contains chlorine that can deplete the ozone when exposed. This is why it will no longer be manufactured or imported in the United States, starting in 2020. The price has skyrocketed since this announcement.Eble Park Ice Arena in Brookfield, Wisconsin has been using this type of freon since it opened nearly 30 years ago.The facility is owned by the Waukesha County Park System. The county has made about 0,000 in upgrades to this ice rink.Waukesha County Park System Director Duane Grimm said that is a far better deal than switching over to a common chemical used these days, such as ammonia."This will save us money to replace all the chiller plant here we would also have to replace the floor all the piping under the floor," Grimm said. "If we did this you're kind of looking at million to .5 million.This may affect you at home.
