SALT LAKE CITY — Some pornographic websites are beginning to comply with a new Utah law requiring that warning labels be attached to adult-oriented materials.At least three major porn sites — Pornhub, XTube and RedTube — have begun attaching an opt-in notification for visitors from Utah, which says that the state believes pornographic materials can be harmful if viewed by minors."It shows for a lot of businesses, they're more concerned about their pocketbook than they are about being prosecuted," said Rep. Brady Brammer, R-Highland, who sponsored the bill earlier this year.Brammer's bill got national attention, and he faced pushback and threats of lawsuits from the adult entertainment industry when it debuted earlier this year. XHamster, another adult website, even trolled the bill by posting a parody warning on its site for Utah viewers to see.Brammer watered down the original bill, and it passed the legislature. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, a Republican, allowed it to go into law without his signature.The law allows people to bring a private civil action in court against a site for displaying "obscene" materials, but it would require someone to go to court and have something declared "obscene."A trade group representing the porn industry said it advises websites not to comply with the new law, believing it is still unconstitutional."No matter the message, the First Amendment restricts the government's ability to compel speech. Individual companies may choose to comply because it's easier than facing lawsuits or fines. We've never advised our members to comply, and don't believe this is being done in any widespread manner, but respect that a business may make decisions that limit potential liability," Mike Stabile, a spokesman for the Free Speech Coalition, said in an email. "As with similar, previous legislation in Utah, we'll eventually see the law challenged and overturned, and at no small expense to the Utah taxpayer. That's unfortunate, because that money and energy could be spent educating people about actually effective methods of protection, like parental filters."An email sent to Pornhub requesting comment on why it began posting warning labels was not immediately returned.While no websites have challenged the law in court, Brammer believes it will hold up."So far, it's been a lot of talk. I don't think that they will, if they do bring a legal challenge, I don't think they'll be able to succeed on that," Brammer said. "We have a difference of opinion on that. They haven't felt confident enough yet to bring a legal challenge and most of the companies, rather than make the challenge and spend the money on that, they're complying."Brammer said he ultimately would like to expand the legislation to allow for people to sue an adult website, even if they don't know who owns it.But he said he was not planning to bring that forward in the 2021 legislative session that begins in January. Other states have expressed interest in running similar legislation, he said.Brammer said the warning label law has already alerted parents when their child was re-directed to an adult site, and it's educated them about parental filters.He insisted his bill did not block adults from viewing pornography, just minors."If that's where they want to go, they're going to get there. SAN DIEGO — With in-restaurant dining now outlawed amid the Coronavirus outbreak, a South Park neighborhood bistro has transformed itself into a local grocer where shoppers can get produce, milk, eggs, and - yes - toilet paper.Ownership at Eclipse Chocolate made the move this week to help the business get through a time when they can't carry out the core of their business - in house dining. "We were already selling our own chocolate, we're also selling local food brands, we do that all the time, so really it was just a matter of rearranging our own furniture," said Daniel Youngren, a co-owner of the eatery. Restaurants across San Diego County have been hit hard due to the restrictions, with many either shutting down or offering discounts for takeout. More than 126,000 San Diegans work in the industry, which has seen employees either lose their jobs or have their hours cut.Youngren says Eclipse Chocolate is no exception, with a number of its 20 employees seeing fewer hours and applying for unemployment assistance. Still, he says this allows the restaurant to make up at least a portion of the revenue lost and keep some workers busy, while also fulfilling its mission of getting food to people who are hungry.On Thursday, Eclipse Chocolate had used the tables from its dining room to offer apples, tomatoes, onions, cauliflower, to name a few. It also was getting a delivery of milk, eggs, butter, and toilet paper. "We do it all," Youngren said. SAN DIEGO — Police are investigating multiple shootings that erupted in downtown San Diego Monday night.The gunfire was reported around 11 p.m. at several locations in the East Village neighborhood, about three blocks east of Petco Park's tailgate parking lot.A crew for Scripps station KGTV in San Diego was at the scene of one shooting at 15th Street and Island Avenue where several victims were being loaded into ambulances. Two other people suffering gunshot wounds were located near Market Street.No further information about the victims is available at this time.A witness told KGTV that he heard about a dozen gunshots coming from different locations and two vehicles speeding from the scene.It is unknown at this time if there are any other victims. San Diego Police Department Gang units are also on scene.The shooting happened not long after the San Diego Padres wrapped up their game against the Washington Nationals at Petco Park. 1015

SAN BERNARDINO (KGTV) -- Park View's Green Monsters sprayed the toasty San Bernardino sky with a barrage of home runs on their way to a convincing victory Sunday night in the first round of the Little League West Regional baseball tournament at Houghton Stadium.The Southern California squad from Chula Vista powered their way to a win with a grand slam and a pair of back-to-back jacks from their two biggest bats in their rout over the Northern California champion Tri-City Little League team out of Rocklin, Calif., 16-8.The opening round match up saw the Green Monsters fall behind early in the bottom of the first on a long ball when Tri-City's Nathan Erickson cracked a low drive off Kainoa Baptista that hooked over the 225 marker just inside the left field foul pole.After hitting Aiden Weissenberg-Frost on a pitch then allowing him to advance to second on a passed ball, Baptista gave up a single to Adam Van Der Kamp that brought in Weissenberg-Frost giving Northern California a 2-0 lead.Weissenberg-Frost, whose recent no-hitter helped put TCLL into the West Region tournament, continued his dominance on the mound Sunday night.  The 5-foot-9, 170-pound right-hander relied on his searing 75 mph fastball to record his fourth and fifth strikeouts of the game in the second inning. According to announcers broadcasting the game on ESPN Plus, Weissenberg-Frost's fastball is equivalent to a mid-90s fastball in the Major Leagues.The Green Monsters struggled to locate Weissenberg-Frost's heat, but it was on his 40th pitch of the game in the second inning that saw PVLL get on the scoreboard.PVLL's Atticus Gates lined a 3-1 fastball over second base that got past center fielder Trajan Rogowski allowing Conner Alonzo to score from first base to narrow TCLL's lead, 2-1.Matthew Bjornstad took the mound for Baptista in the bottom of the second inning and turned in a commanding performance striking out all three TCLL batters he faced on 15 pitches.With Weissenberg-Frost still throwing 70 mph darts, Michael Rodriguez, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound right-hander, blasted a 1-2 fastball over left-center into a row of tents several feet behind the wall giving PVLL a 3-2 lead.TCLL's Tanner Dykstra came on to replace Weissenberg-Frost (59 pitches, 6Ks, 3 runs) only to face the Green Monster's cleanup hitter Jose Mendoza.Mendoza, a 6-foot, 193-pound center fielder, crushed Dykstra's first pitch into the souvenir shack beyond the right field wall.  Rodriguez and Mendoza's back-to-back big flies put PVLL up 4-2.Weissenberg-Frost's night on the mound may have been finished, but his bat wasn't done.  With two outs in the bottom of the third, the pitcher-slash-power hitter stopped Bjornstad's streak of five consecutive outs with a homer of his own.  Weissenberg-Frost struck a moon shot over the scoreboard in the left field gallery to cut PVLL's lead, 4-3.PVLL would go on to race around the bases in the top of the fourth led by a second round of back-to-back homers from Rodriguez and Mendoza, giving the SoCal Champs an 8-3 lead.Northern California got help in the bottom of the 4th inning after Rodriguez, who took over pitching duties, walked in a couple of runs to make the score 9-5.
