SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Less than a week after fully reopening its schools, the Vista Unified School District reported a second COVID-19 case involving a Mission Vista High School student, leading to the quarantine of about 150 students and four teachers.According to the district, the second student tested positive for the illness on Sunday. The switch malfunction on a utility pole on Hawken Drive in Otay Mesa occurred shortly before 1 p.m., according to San Diego Gas & Electric and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The equipment failure sent melted materials dripping onto the ground, setting grass and other vegetation on fire, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to subdue the flames, which blackened about a half-acre of brushy terrain, Munoz said. No structural damage or injuries were reported. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Coroner's officials today said that a worker who fell 60 feet to his death while setting up a stage for the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio was a 49-year-old San Diego man.The worker was identified as Christopher Griffin, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office. The Riverside County Fire Department reported receiving a call of someone falling from a roof at 9:26 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Monroe Street and Avenue 50.The venue for the festival, the Empire Polo Club, is located on the southwest corner of that intersection. Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said.In a written statement Saturday, the festival's production company, Goldenvoice, confirmed the death."Today, Goldenvoice lost a colleague, a friend, a family member. Our friend fell while working on a festival stage. It is with heavy hearts and tremendous difficulty that we confirm his passing. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Four men allegedly bringing several dozen pounds of drugs through the coastal North County were arrested today following a road chase from Solana Beach to Carlsbad, authorities said.The pursuit began about 10:30 a.m., when detectives tried to pull over a vehicle with five people in it on Interstate 5 near Lomas Santa Fe Drive, according to sheriff's officials.The driver refused to yield, continuing on to the north for about four miles before exiting onto Encinitas Boulevard, Sgt.
