(KGTV) — A motorcyclist was killed on Friday after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a building in Carlsbad.Carlsbad Police say the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Faraday Ave. just after 3 p.m., when for unknown reasons he lost control and collided into a building.Officers arrived to find the motorcyclist unconscious. The rider, identified as a 29-year-old male from Encinitas, died at the scene.Police don't believe any other vehicles were involved and said it doesn't appear alcohol was a factor. It's unclear how fast the rider was traveling at the time of the crash.The area of Faraday Ave. and Orion Way was partially closed for the investigation but has since reopened. 728

CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) - The commander of I Marine Expeditionary Force today relieved from duty the commander of a landing team involved in a training accident that killed nine young servicemen in the ocean near San Clemente Island last summer, the Marine Corps announced. USMC Lt. Gen. Karsten Heckl removed Lt. Col. Michael Regner from his post as commanding officer of Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit ``due to a loss in trust and confidence in his ability to command'' following the sinking of an assault amphibious vehicle about 80 miles west of Encinitas.``Although the command investigation (into the accident) has compiled a substantial amount of information and data which formed the basis for Heckl's decision, it is still ongoing as the Marine Corps continues to investigate, assess all relevant information and take appropriate actions,'' I MEF public affairs advised in a prepared statement.The amphibious troop-transport vehicle carrying the Camp Pendleton- based personnel -- seven Marines and a Navy sailor, ranging in age from 18 to 22 -- foundered for unknown reasons about 5:45 p.m. July 30 during a maritime training mission and went down in water nearly 400 feet deep. Carnival Cruise Line announced Thursday that most of its remaining US-based cruises for 2020 have been canceled due to coronavirus concerns.The cruise line canceled all cruises originating from US ports except for those leaving Miami and Port Carnival during November and December. Carnival said Thursday that it’s possible all remaining cruises in the US will be canceled amid the pandemic.“As we have said throughout this pause, our return to operations will be gradual and phased in. And while we are not making any presumptions, once cruising is allowed, we will center our initial start-up from the homeports of Miami and Port Canaveral,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “The health and safety of our guests, crew and communities we serve remain the cornerstone of our plans and decisions. "It looked like a war zone of black smoke everywhere all over the place of all the roads blocked off," Homeowner Bob Payne said.He was at his relative's home when he got the call, and rushed back Carlsbad to see what he could do. He said he was lucky to have been out of town, otherwise he said he would've been on his driveway fighting the flames with a garden hose.His home was one of 65 structures that burned. Firefighters fought as 14 separate fires grew, eventually?covering 26,000 acres.At Bob's home, all that was left was a safe, full of photos of smiling children and their wedding memories. It took two and a half long years, to rebuild. He didn't want to leave their prime hilltop location, close to the beach and to town."It looks different, we changed our house some.
