VISTA (CNS) - An Oceanside man convicted of abusing his neighbors' dogs, including gouging out the eye of a Siberian Husky, was sentenced to nearly 10 years in custody Friday.Jurors last summer found 37-year-old David C. The dog has never been found and is presumed dead.Police found a small amount of blood in Herbert's car and on a baseball bat he owned.Herbert, who represented himself at trial, testified that Lala jumped in his car and he was about to take her to a shelter when she jumped out and ran off. 1580

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Vista Thursday on suspicion of making terrorist threats against a north San Diego County campus, Oceanside Police said Friday. The Mission Vista High School student allegedly made the threat on Snapchat, posting “Don’t go to school tomorrow because the cleansing will commence,” according to investigators. Other students saw the post and reported it to school officials, who contacted police. The Vista Unified School District sent an automated message to parents to notify them about the threat. "In this situation the systems we have in place worked. A student saw something and said something. Please take this opportunity to speak with your child about school safety, and encourage them to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behavior or information they may have that jeopardizes their safety and that of others," said Lisa Contreras, VUSD Director of Communications.Contreras told 10News that the alleged threat did not target a specific campus or individual. VISTA (CNS) - A 24-year-old man was behind bars today for reportedly crashing his car into a freeway work zone in the far northern reaches of San Diego County while drunk, injuring himself along with two construction crew members.Ross Rodgers, 24, was headed south on Interstate 15 near Mission Road in the unincorporated Rainbow community about 10:50 p.m.Sunday when his 2008 Toyota Prius veered over traffic cones and entered the closure area, where it hit the back end of a stationary 2008 Ford F-250, according to the California Highway Patrol.A worker behind the wheel of the pickup truck and a second one on foot nearby suffered apparently minor injuries in the wreck.Medics took the two men, ages 30 and 36, to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for evaluations, CHP Officer Kevin Smale said. Rodgers was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and transported to the same hospital for treatment of a broken bone in his right foot.Upon his release from medical care, the San Diego resident was booked into the county jail in Vista on suspicion of felony DUI.The crash led to intermittent closures of parts of the freeway in the area until about 5 a.m., Smale said. 1186
