SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who led police on pursuit was arrested early Monday morning after spending 45 minutes on the roof of a Webster home.San Diego police officers attempted to stop a dark colored Kia shortly before 12:30 a.m. on 49th and Federal Blvd. after the driver was seen driving recklessly.The driver crashed into an embankment and pole on Marilou Road, and that's when police said the suspect jumped out and took off running.Police chased the man for several blocks, even jumping fences and running through backyards. The suspect then climb on top of a home, leaping across rooftops trying to get away, but was surrounded.The suspect sat on the rooftop on Brookline street and told officers he would not come down until they put their guns down.The suspect eventually surrendered 45 minutes later. Firefighters were called in to put a ladder up and help get him down.He's being evaluated for DUI and faces felony evading charges. 950

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A massive water main break in North Park Tuesday morning flooded streets as the neighborhood continues to cope with issues related to the breaks. According to the city, a 30-inch cast iron water main transmission line broke around 6 a.m. on Ray Street at Capps Street. Currently, the City of San Diego is in the process of replacing all cast iron pipes. After that process is complete, the city says it will assess concrete mains. Crews hope to have all cast iron pipes removed by 2023. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Kensington sake bar and restaurant is getting creative to survive the latest COVID-19 shutdown orders.Like for so many businesses, the pandemic has been served up economic pain at Tanuki Sake Bar, where revenues have been cut in half.The most recent COVID-19 shutdown orders were a gut punch for Kai Ishii’s father, who opened the restaurant more than two years ago."Definitely disappointment on his part, and worry for his employees and the business," said Ishii.With the restaurant being takeout only, Ishii's family can only afford hours for one of their four servers."The biggest thing is the uncertainty of what’s next," said Ishii.What Ishii did do next is inspired partly from fast food."Definitely got some inspiration from In-N-Out, when they ask you, 'Do you want to eat in the car or take it home?"" said Ishii.But he knows the concept of in-car dining would only go so far."We wanted to give them something to occupy their attention," said Ishii.So Ishii bought an 18-foot-tall movie screen and a projector, and set them up in their modest parking lot — just 6 spaces. Last weekend, the sake bar started offering a pop-up Japanese movies and anime to go with dinner."We found a way to put audio in the car, so it's a lot more immersive," said Ishii.Each car can use wireless speakers for sound. The dinner for two and movie costs .Their first screening Saturday was sold out, and so is another screening later this week. Ishii is hoping to show two or three films a week, and its not just about the extra revenue."We have a lot of wonderful loyal customers, and we’re hoping the big screen will add to that ... create foot traffic, create buzz with the cars driving by and bring more attention for the restaurant and takeout orders ... SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A possible theft ring may be 'fishing' for checks at local post offices.Kevin, who owns a small business, mailed out several checks to vendors at the post office in Poway on a Friday night. On the next Tuesday morning last month, he got a call from his bank, Wells Fargo. A woman had tried to cash a fake check at a bank in Los Angeles, a typed check for nearly ,500 written out to a woman's name from Kevin's business. The bank rejected it. The bank representative then asked him about two other checks that had just been deposited at other branches. The two fake checks - written out to a different woman for some 0 each - had been deposited for cash in the Los Angeles area."There's definitely anxiety. You don't know how much money has been compromised," said Kevin.Kevin is not alone. In April, 10news featured the story of Barbara Reynolds and her state tax check, stolen and altered after she dropped it off at post office in Mira Mesa. Her check was likely 'fished' out by thieves using a rodent glue trap, before being washed. A chemical solution dissolves away the ink, allowing a thief to fill in the blanks.Another theft victim told 10news the Postal Inspection Service supervisor described to him a possible theft ring that has hit post offices in Encinitas, Poway and Mira Mesa in recent months. 10news has also tracked down reports of similar thefts in Sorrento Valley and Rancho Bernardo."It's frustrating. Never crossed my mind that something dropped off at post office could be compromised," said Kevin. Kevin's bank did cover the loss of the fake checks. 10news reached to the Postal Inspection Service but haven't heard back.Experts say use the slots inside the post office and if you do use an outside collection box, drop off your mail before the final collection time. 1823
