So make yourself more marketable by learning or developing a skill, or getting a certification (think mastering Excel or dipping a toe into project management). You can find courses for just about any topic on platforms like Coursera and Udemy.“Then, put that bullet point on your resume. Even if they don’t have a formal certification process, that’s still a big deal to say you invested that amount of time in yourself,” says Julie Kratz, founder of Next Pivot Point, a leadership training organization.This step can be even more impactful if you’ve had a gap in work experience during the pandemic.Give yourself creditMaybe you don’t meet 100 percent of the listed requirements for a position or you’re considering a new career path. Don’t let that stop you from applying.Be confident and try not to apologize for or otherwise call attention to anything you’re lacking, says Jeannie Kim, vice president of content at career site The Muse.“What you should do instead is really play up the things that you do have. Play up the skills you have that are in the job description. Play up the background that you have, and make sure that you’re telling the story of how you’re qualified to do the actual responsibilities of the job.”Highlight your adaptabilityBusinesses across the country are settling into new normals. That might involve reconfiguring workspaces or learning to operate remotely. You’ll make a good impression by demonstrating you can roll with changes. How do you do that? JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A founder of the Salt Life clothing brand is facing a manslaughter charge in the death of an 18-year-old woman at a Florida hotel.Michael Troy Hutto was being held without bond Sunday at the Duval County jail in Jacksonville following his arrest in connection with the death of 18-year-old Lora Grace Duncan.Her body was found Thursday at a Palm Beach County hotel. Police say she had been fatally shot.Hutto was arrested Friday. Investigators have not said how they believe Hutto is connected to Duncan’s death or if they had a relationship.Jail records do not show if Hutto has an attorney.Hutto no longer owns Salt Life. He was charged with homicide and Krystal was later arrested and charged with aggravated child neglect or endangerment.Crews in Dickson County, Tennessee vowed they wouldn't stop searching until the young boy was brought home and laid to rest.A legal battle is looming especially since Joe Clyde Daniel's body still has not been found. It is a simple question sure to be asked by the public defender: without a body can prosecutors even prove that Joe Clyde Daniels is dead?Yes, it's true his father Joseph Daniels is said to have confessed to beating the child to death, but without actually having a body it's not a done deal."Certainly it's a more difficult case if they have nothing to back up the confession," said attorney Jim Todd, who's closely followed the case.He said there certainly could be other evidence, perhaps blood from the scene, cadaver dogs hitting on a scent or even witness testimony potentially from the child's mother."There's a good chance, and this is a guess, the wife is charged as a leverage point on her to get her to roll," said Todd.But then there's this: Daniel's father says he believes prosecutors coerced the confession out of his son. What happens if he recants his statement and insists he is innocent?"The jury will hear the statement and determine on their own if he was coerced or gave this confession or not," said Todd.That situation would only occur if the case goes to trial, and a trial is a long way off. Next up, a preliminary hearing for both parents on June 1.That's when prosecutors will lay out much of their case. Much can change between now and then. The question is: will investigators have found the child's remains in time for the next hearing?Their case could hinge on that development. Just because you're bankrupt doesn't mean you don't need a hand during the holiday season.Toys R Us, which filed for bankruptcy on Monday night, announced Thursday that it is looking to fill at least 13,000 positions nationwide for the upcoming holiday season.The toy retailer didn't give the total number of seasonal workers it plans to hire, but said it is looking for 3,800 workers in the New York area, 2,400 in greater Los Angeles as well as 2,400 at a warehouse in Groveport, Ohio that is run by DHL. It is also looking for about 1,000 workers each in the Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston markets as well as 900 work at home call center employees.Hiring workers just for the holidays will be harder for retailers this year since unemployment at at 4.4%, near a 16-year low. There are currently a record number of unfilled job openings according to Labor Department statistics. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Johnson County Library is searching for the owner of an old family photo it believes was mistakenly left at the library.A library employee found the photo in the donation bin at the Lackman Library in Lenexa, Kansas."Because of that we don't know who dropped it off, where it came from or who it belongs to," said Josh Neff, an information specialist at the library.The photo was left in the bin in March and the library has been holding on to it ever since."We have been holding on to it hoping that whoever accidentally lost it, would think to come back here and ask about it. But so far nobody has claimed it," said Neff.Now, the library is turning to social media in hopes of finding the photo's owner. On Monday, the library posted the image on Facebook and Twitter."We know the power of social media. We know that it's a great way to spread the message," Neff said.
