LA JOLLA (CNS) - A woman's body was found Sunday on the shoreline below cliffs in La Jolla, police said.At 6:40 a.m., someone found the body about 75 feet below the cliffs near Coast Walk, north of Torrey Pines Road, according to Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.Lifeguards recovered the body, which was taken with a Jet Ski to La Jolla Shores, where they met with officials from the county Medical Examiner's Office.There was no additional information on the victim, Martinez said. 514

(KGTV) - In Jamul, community members are banding together to help a family-owned farm decimated by the Valley Fire.Cheryl Skidmore, the owner of Hidden Haven Ranch, was on the phone with workers on site."Very, very smoky fire. Hit the ridge and then came down very fast," said Skidmore.Some animals were evacuated, but the damage was heavy at the 16-year-old farm known for sustainable farming.All 125 chickens were killed. Most of the crops were destroyed: half of the orchards, from apples to apricots, and all of the industrial hemp fields. The flames also burned a trailer and much of the farm equipment."Everything is just devastated. We have to start over," said Skidmore.Skidmore says she tried to get wildfire insurance but was denied, partly because she’s in a fire-prone area. The total loss was about 0,000. Shutting down the farm became very possible."It's overwhelming," said Skidmore.The word 'overwhelming' could also be used to describe the outpouring of support."The community has been donating hens. Hopefully, we will be doing egg production next month," said Skidmore.The farm asked for help and the community responded with dozens of volunteers at three cleanup efforts, including one on this day. Volunteers have done everything, from raking ash and trimming trees, to moving dirt and cleaning horse stalls. Jordyn Brewer is one of those volunteers."When I saw the pictures of the devastation, it made me upset. If I were in that situation, I would want people to help me," said Skidmore.Skidmore says that help will mean the difference between shutting down and keeping the farm going."No way I could have done this myself ... Just to see people so willing to help others, just makes me feel so good," said Skidmore.A lot of cleanup remains at the 52-acre farm. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri Health Department is speaking out after it poured bleach on food intended to be given to homeless people.Nellie McCool, who helps run Free Hot Soup Kansas City, has been helping the homeless for years until Sunday."Officers and health inspectors demanded we destroy our food and we were violating health code violations by sharing meals with our friends," said McCool.The department said the group wasn't following the law about serving the homeless."They were notified back in a meeting in September that they needed to get a permit and they just outright said they refused to do that," said Dr. Rex Archer, director of health for KCMO.But McCool said she never heard from the department."That is incorrect," McCool said. "We never had any kind of government official ever come and speak with anybody at any of the public parks."According to the health department, the permit is free and all organizations that want to serve food to homeless people (or anyone) needs this permit. Archer said the food was also not being handled correctly and could put others at risk."Preparing food in all these individuals homes when people haven't been trained, prepare food safely. Then, they are taking it and transporting it in trunks of cars when its cool. It's supposed to be warm food but they have no insulation or a way to keep the food warm," Archer said. 1424
