SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego International Airport expects an increase in travelers during the upcoming holiday season, even as cases of coronavirus surge in San Diego."We have seen an increase (in the past)," says Airport Spokesperson Nicole Hall. "So we are planning for that. We have additional flights leaving San Diego and anticipate an increase in the travel during that time."When the pandemic started, passenger travel at the San Diego International Airport dropped more than 90%. It has since recovered a bit. Airport officials say they're now down 67% from last year.With more people expected to fly over the holidays, the airport has increased it's efforts to make sure everyone who passes through it stays safe.They are requiring masks for every person in the airport. Signs shaped like surfboards help mark 6-foot social distancing requirements on the floor. Seats are marked as "off-limits." Plexiglass dividers line ticket counters and concession areas. Soon, it will finally reopen for all to enjoy.Opened in 1926, the San Diego Museum of Art is the city's oldest and largest museum.Following a four-month pandemic shutdown, the museum is finally ready to continue educating locals, starting July 9."Every single protocol has been put in place there is a big team here working the last three months and thinking precisely how to give you the joy of the art the pleasure of being at the museum but more importantly the fact that you can feel safe here," said Roxana Velasquez, the museum's executive director.Safety precautions will be in line with temperature checks and social distancing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The son of a San Diego murder victim made a plea Friday for the public to help find his father’s killer.Salvador Hernandez, 26, was shot and killed February 16, 2008, in Oak Park.He and a woman were sitting in a parked car on Seifert St. near Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 3:30 a.m. when a pickup truck pulled alongside their car and someone inside opened fire.The woman recovered from her bullet wounds but Hernandez died, San Diego Police said.During a news conference outside police headquarters, family and friends, including Hernandez's mother, sister and 12-year-old son Angel spoke about their loss. "Please if anyone has any information, I'm begging you, I never knew him," sobbed Angel, before turning to his grandmother for comfort.  San Diego County Crime Stoppers, 888-580-8477, and the San Diego Police Homicide Unit, 619-531-2293, are requesting public tips with more information to find the killer.
