PACIFIC BEACH (CNS) - Firefighters were able to put out a garage fire in Pacific Beach on Saturday.The fire was first reported at 2:05 p.m. in a detached garage at a house on Kendall Street near Roosevelt Avenue, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Crews had the fire knocked down a little before 2:30 p.m., a fire dispatcher said.No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 426

PITTSBURGH - A US Postal Service employee is on leave after bags of undelivered mail were found on the side of the street for trash pick-up outside a home near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to multiple reports.Several bags were reported to the US Postal Service Office of Inspector General Sunday and they are investigating.An agent with the USPS OIG says the bags contained a variety of mail.“USPS OIG Special Agents recovered several different classes of mail, including business mail, flats, and small amount of first class mail. We expect to perform a piece count of the mail today, and make arrangements to have the mail delivered to customers as soon as feasible,” Special Agent Scott Balfour said in a statement released Tuesday.“Once USPS OIG special agents conclude their investigation, the case will be presented for federal prosecution to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”A post office employee is on leave without pay in connection with this investigation.This is the second time in just the last week a mail person is under investigation for allegedly not delivering mail.According to WPXI, the other incident was caught on surveillance camera, showing a postal carrier dumping mail inside a garbage can. Agents say a ballot application and political advertisements were found.Balfour noted that the Postal Service has 630,000 employees and the majority are "hard-working, trustworthy individuals" who work around the clock to deliver the country’s mail. People are using a chemical used to calibrate machines to get high that is so powerful it's nearly Narcan resistant.Some dealers are passing off this new drug as fentanyl. But the reality is much worse. It's a hazardous chemical mixed with fentanyl called tetrahydrofuran fentanyl."It's got other opioid effects. Some of these things are 100 or 1,000 times more potent than heroin," said Dr. Michael Miller of Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc.The drug is new to Wisconsin, but law enforcement has found it in Florida and Georgia. Last week, a Pennsylvania man, Jeremy Achey, 43, was sentenced to life in prison for supplying tetrahydrofuran fentanyl.According to federal court records, a man overdosed and his fiancee died when they bought it from him over the internet. Prosecutors say the seller told customers, "It is best if you snort it, shoot it, or smoke it."Miller said most addicts do not even know they are taking this synthetic fentanyl."Most people who are exposed to synthetic fentanyls are not using them intentionally. They are not desiring to use them because they understand that the potency is so high it could be lethal," Miller said.Achey is believed to have mailed thousands of packages containing the drug to customers throughout the United States. In order to survive it, Miller warned you would need a large dose of Narcan."It's the fentanyl part that is really fatal because it shuts down your breathing and you die instantly," said Miller. "You use as much opioid reversal agent as you possibly can, you support them, you put them on a ventilator." The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's office could not say where the person who died in Milwaukee got the tetrahydrofuran fentanyl. Police are investigating an alleged sexual misconduct incident at Las Brisas Academy in Goodyear, Arizona.The allegations were first reported to the principal Wednesday night, by the parent of the victim, who found text message conversations between 27-year-old Brittany Zamora and her 13-year-old male student.The conversation indicated there were sexual activities happening between the two, on and and off campus. According to police records, the teen's parents were alerted to the explicit messages by a parental app.After initially reporting the relationship to the Las Brisas principal, the 13-year-old's father also contacted Buckeye police.In a report made to police, the victim's father said he received a phone call from Zamora and her husband, who were allegedly "pleading with him not to contact the police." During the call, Zamora's husband reportedly asked to "meet up" and "settle this." 921

Police say there is no ongoing threat to safety after four Wisconsin high school students were caught plotting a school shooting on Facebook Messenger.Four juvenile suspects from Eau Claire took part in the group chat, which police say indicated that "a mass shooting would occur at Memorial High School on Monday, March 26." The group chat included photographs of guns and "several specific statements" related to a planned shooting.All four are students at Memorial and have been referred to Eau Claire County Juvenile Intake for making terrorist threats.Eau Claire Police say the threat was originally reported on March 16.
