When Snapchat introduced its latest redesign late last year, they billed it as way to make the photo and video messaging app more personable. They promised the redesign would allow users to find friends more easily and eliminate misleading news stories. However, many users aren't buying the new design. The latest update has received mostly negative reviews online since it was pushed out earlier this month. Users claim the new version is harder to navigate, especially the new "content" page where content from celebrities and media outlets now flows. I’m seeing this same comment so often. I liked that you guys felt like we were friends. I’m sad it doesn’t feel like that anymore. How many people have to hate an update for it to be reconsidered? https://t.co/PI7OAf9Qlg— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 9, 2018 848

WILMINGTON, Del. – Joe Biden said in a speech Wednesday that his campaign believes it’s clear that they’re on track to win enough states to reach the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.“I’m not here to declare that we’ve won, but I am here to report that when the count is finished, we believe we'll be the winners,” said the former vice president from Wilmington, Delaware.Watch his speech below:Biden’s remarks came around the same time that The Associated Press projected he would win Wisconsin, bringing him to 248 electoral votes as of about 4 p.m. ET. At that same time, President Donald Trump had racked up 214.“Of all the votes counted, we have won Wisconsin by 20,000 votes, virtually the same margin as when Trump won that state four years ago,” said Biden.Biden is also leading in Michigan and Nevada, but by slim margins. If he were to claim those two states as well, he would reach the crucial 270-vote threshold.“In Michigan, we lead by over 35,000 votes and it’s growing,” said Biden. “It’s a substantially bigger margin than when President Trump won Michigan in 2016.”As for Pennsylvania, The Associated Press still had Trump leading, but Biden had made steady advances throughout Wednesday.“I feel very good about Pennsylvania. Virtually all the remaining ballots to be counted were cast by mail and we’ve been winning 78% of the votes by mail in Pennsylvania,” said Biden. The Democratic candidate said it’s been a long and difficult campaign, but admitted it’s been a more difficult time for our country. He said once the election is over, he hopes to bring Americans together, despite the partisan nature of the country.“I know this won’t be easy. I’m not na?ve, neither of us are,” said Biden referring to him and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris. “I know how deep and hard the opposing views are in our country on so many things, but I also know this as well. To make progress, we have to stop treating out opponents as enemies. We are not enemies.”He said what brings us together as Americans stronger than anything that can tear us apart and promised to be a president to the whole country, not just those who voted for him.“The presidency itself is not a partisan institution,” he said. “It’s the one office in this nation that represents everyone, and it demands a duty of care for all Americans and that is precisely what I will do. I will work as for those who didn’t vote for me as I will for those did vote for me.”Biden stressed that every vote must be counted to determine the winner of the election. His comments were likely in reaction to the Trump campaign's lawsuits that are asking for vote counts in Pennsylvania and Michigan to be stopped, claiming lack of “transparency.” The president's campaign is also requesting a recount in Wisconsin, where Biden was narrowly declared the winner.“No one is going to take our democracy away from us, not now, not ever,” he said. “America has come too far. America has fought too many battles. America has endured too much to ever let that happen. We the people will not be silenced. We the people will not be bullied. We the people will not surrender.”Biden ended by saying that he’s confident he will emerge victorious, but it won’t just be his win.“It will be a victory for the American people, for our democracy, for America. And there will be no blue states and red states when we win, just the United States of America.” 3429
When cruise lines begin sailing again, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has some guidance. The health agency issued their “framework for resuming safe and responsible cruise ship” operations Friday, ahead of the no-sail order expiring Saturday. The no-sail order, which originally began in April, prohibits cruise ships from carrying 250 passengers in waters subject to US jurisdiction. The CDC said it has identified at least 3,689 coronavirus-related illnesses, and 41 associated deaths, connected to cruise ships. Although the CDC cautions these figures are likely an underestimate. The framework urges a phased approach, and applies to ships that have the capacity to carry at least 250 passengers in waters subject to U.S. jurisdiction.“A phased approach is necessary because of the continued spread of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, risk of resurgence in countries that have suppressed transmission, ongoing concerns related to restarting of cruising internationally, and need for additional time for the cruise industry to test the effectiveness of measures to control potential COVID-19 transmission on board cruise ships with passengers without burdening public health,” a statement from the CDC reads.During the beginning, cruise line operators will have to demonstrate adherence to testing, quarantine and isolation plans, as well as social distancing requirements for passengers and crew members. The CDC says they will help by “establishing a laboratory team dedicated to cruise ships to provide information and oversight of COVID-19 testing,” updating instructions and creating a system to track ship status and passenger cases.Meanwhile, cruise lines will need to build out the capacity and ability to test crew and passengers on a regular basis. In their framework, the CDC says there may be simulated, or mock, voyages with volunteers to test cruise ship operators’ ability to apply COVID-19 mitigation measures.Although the no-sail order will be lifted, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and other cruise lines have already cancelled sailings until 2021. 2083
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- File it under pizza toppings only offered in Florida.State inspectors say they found an 80-pound iguana stashed in the freezer at a local pizza joint. Pizza Mambo in West Palm Beach was forced to close for a day last week following the inspection by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.A restaurant employee told the South Florida Sun Sentinel the reptile was gifted to the owner and stored in a separate freezer away from the restaurant's food.It was immediately trashed after they were informed it was a violation.Non-native iguanas are multiplying so rapidly that state wildlife officials encourage people to kill them. 687
