"These will inject fresh momentum into our bilateral cooperation and create a great many job opportunities for our two countries," Hu said.On the situation on the Korean Peninsula, he said both countries agreed to work together with relevant parties to maintain peace and stability on the peninsula, promote denuclearization of the peninsula and achieve lasting peace and security in Northeast Asia.The Chinese leader reaffirmed China's firm commitment to the path of peaceful development and a win-win strategy of opening up."China is a friend and partner of all countries, and China's development is an opportunity for the world," he said.Meanwhile, Hu said he and Obama discussed some disagreements in the economic and trade area, with both sides pledging "to continue to appropriately resolve these according to the principle of mutual respect and consultation on an equal footing."Addressing the same press conference, Obama said cooperation between the two countries is good for the two sides and for the whole world."Along with our G-20 partners, we've moved from the brink of catastrophe to the beginning of global economic recovery," he said.Noting China is one of the top markets for American exports, Obama said the annual U.S. exports to China in goods and services support "more than half a million American jobs."He praised China's extraordinary economic growth that "has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. BEIJING, Dec.19 (Xinhua) -- China's land regulators urged local land authorities late Sunday to take concrete measures against excessive growth in the country's land prices in some Chinese cities and crack down on illegal behavior, such as land hoarding, to ensure the implementation of the government's cooling measures on the property market.The Ministry of Land and Resources(MOLAR) said in a statement on its web site that the recently seen high prices in land sales in some Chinese cities had raised social concerns, which local land authorities should pay considerable attention to, and take actions to curb the rapid growth in land prices.According to the MOLAR, cities and counties that had not provided more than 70 percent of the total land supply this year to shantytown renovation, the construction of affordable homes and medium-priced commercial housing, should not provide land for high-end housing for the rest of this year.Further, for land sales with over 50 percent premium rate or record high prices, local governments should report to provincial land authorities and the MOLAR within two working days after the deal is closed.The procedures of supplying land should also be strictly conducted, and there should never be any change in the use of land that is for the construction of affordable housing, said the statement.

BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's express delivery topped 10 million pieces per day as of the end of 2010, ranking the third most deliveries in the world, the State Post Bureau (SPB) said on Tuesday.Some 2.4 billion pieces were handled in 2010, an increase of 1.5 times from five years ago. Also, revenues jumped two fold from the level in 2005 to 57.3 billion yuan (8.68 billion U.S. dollars) last year.Despite the increase, China's per capita figure was less than two pieces per day, less than the international average of 4.1 pieces.SPB vowed to improve the policy environment to facilitate industry innovations and build competitive enterprises in the global market.

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- China on Sunday proposed emergency consultations among the heads of delegation to the Six-Party Talks next month as tensions rise on the Korean Peninsula."The Chinese side, after careful deliberation, proposes emergency consultations among the heads of delegation to the Six-Party Talks in early December in Beijing to exchange views on major issues of concern to the parties at present," said Wu Dawei, Chinese special representative for the Korean Peninsula affairs.It is China's latest move with regard to tensions on the peninsula, following the exchange of artillery fire Tuesday between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).The ROK and the United States on Sunday launched a four-day joint naval drill in waters west of the divided Korean Peninsula, the U.S. aircraft carrier USS George Washington joined the drill.A statement from the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) said it "demonstrates the strength" of the alliance between Seoul and Washington and their "commitment to regional stability through deterrence."But the DPRK on Sunday blasted the ROK-U.S. joint exercises, saying they were bringing war to the Korean Peninsula.China has repeatedly called for calm and restraint, urging the resumption of the stalled Six-Party Talks among China, the DPRK, the United States, the ROK, Russia and Japan.Wu told a press conference the consultations would aim to properly address the situation on the Korean Peninsula and were in accordance with the Joint Statement of the Six-Party Talks issued on Sept. 19, 2005.
