Virtual reality is big in the gaming word. But now, the technology is being used to help better understand Alzheimer’s disease. According to the World Health Organization, 50 million people around the world suffer from Alzheimer’s, and that number is growing rapidly. By 2050, it’s expected to double. "It can be challenging, right? Because there is no cure,” says Molly Fogel, an educator at the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.Fogel is part of the crusade to help people better understand what it’s like living with this illness. That's where virtual reality comes in. “Virtual reality helps you become part of Harry's morning,” Fogel explains of the program. “You will be in his shoes. “It's a 3 minute and 12 second experience.” The video goes through the first part of Harry's day. He has Alzheimer’s.During the VR experience, users will experience things like blurry vision, hallucinations, confusion and disorganization. “Our hope is that we can help people through a really cool technology,” Fogel says. The device launched this year as a tool to help care givers, and even family members, empathize and understand the disease. “Most likely you know somebody or will know somebody living with this illness, Fogel says.“As we can better understand Alzheimer’s disease--destigmatize Alzheimer’s disease--we can be better friends, community members, healthcare professionals, and help the person live with this illness, versus suffer with the illness.” 1474

Twitter "hid" a tweet by President Donald Trump on Friday morning, saying that the message violated the platform's rules about "glorifying violence."The tweet was in reference to protests in Minneapolis regarding the death of George Floyd. Trump threatened to send in the National Guard if Minnesota officials could not reign in rioting and added that "when the looting starts, the shooting starts." He also refered to looters as "THUGS."According to 463

US Justice Department prosecutors have issued multiple subpoenas as part of an investigation into Boeing's Federal Aviation Administration certification and marketing of 737 Max planes, sources briefed on the matter said. The criminal investigation, which is in its early stages, began after the October 2018 crash of a 737 Max aircraft operated by Lion Air in Indonesia, the sources said. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao on Tuesday asked the agency's inspector general to investigate the Max certification.Criminal investigators have sought information from Boeing on safety and certification procedures, including training manuals for pilots, along with how the company marketed the new aircraft, the sources said. It's not yet clear what possible criminal laws could be at issue in the probe. Among the things the investigators are looking into is the process by which Boeing itself certified the plane as safe, and the data it presented the FAA about that self-certification, the sources said. The FBI Seattle office and Justice Department's criminal division in Washington are leading the investigation.A Boeing spokesperson referred to a statement the company released earlier in the week, which indicated it "does not respond to or comment on questions concerning legal matters, whether internal, litigation, or governmental inquiries."The safety of the 737 Max has been called into question after it was involved in two fatal crashes in less than five months. Both the crash last October involving the Lion Air jet and the crash last week involving an Ethiopian Airlines jet resulted in the deaths of everyone aboard. The planes were grounded for an indefinite period worldwide after the Ethiopian Airlines crash. Boeing is still building the planes, but it said last week that it would 1808

When it comes to flooding, the problems most people think about are washed-out roads and underwater homes. But after rainstorms in Missouri and Iowa caused nearby rivers to rise, a family in Northeast Arkansas stumbled upon a 9-foot alligator far from its natural habitat -- in their rice field.Frank Pierce and his family told CNN affiliate WMC-TV that they found the massive gator basking in the sun on Thursday. The family lives about 90 miles from the Mississippi River and in the same county as one of its tributaries, the White River."Me and my brother and my wife and daughter were going fishing and we come around the curve and he was laying out there in the field," Pierce said.Pierce called the police, and the Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas told WMC-TV that they didn't believe the story at first.Lucas said, "When we first got the call, we thought well this is some kind of prank or a log or something because you just don't see gators this far north."But when they got to the scene, they were surprised to see that the call was, in fact, real. The gator greeted law enforcement in the same place it was spotted by the Pierce family.Lucas called the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, who said that the siting was due to the overflowing rivers. According to the National Wildlife Federation, alligators are more commonly found in Southeast states such as Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Texas.CNN Meteorologist Monica Garrett said water from the Mississippi River has been high for weeks and flooding will continue to be a concern into June. The ACFC said it's not uncommon when rivers flood for alligators to leave their usual homes. The commission also found another 4-foot gator nearby while trying to capture the larger animal. However, the gator escaped, and the commission representative told WMC-TV there's a chance no one will ever see it again. 1879

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State of Mike Pompeo has notified Congress that the Trump administration no longer regards Hong Kong as autonomous from mainland China. Wednesday's notification to lawmakers sets the stage for the U.S. to withdraw preferential trade and financial status that the former British colony has enjoyed since it reverted to Chinese rule in 1997. Pompeo's decision was not accompanied by a revocation of any specific privileges but comes amid calls for the U.S. and others to react against Beijing's move to impose Chinese national security laws over the territory. 596
