MOSCOW, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Russia will give humanitarian aid to quake-stricken China, a source at the Emergency Situations Ministry told Russian media on Friday."Under the Russian president's order, the ministry will deliver tents, blankets, diesel generators and food to China, about 40 tons of cargo in total," the ministry said, quoted by the Itar- Tass news agency.The flight is scheduled for Saturday, the source said."An Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane of the ministry will bring the aid to the Qinghai province, which sustained the heaviest damage in the recent quake," the ministry said.Another plane will bring more aid to China in the near future.Last Wednesday, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake rocked the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu, in Qinghai province, killing over 2,000 people and injuring 10,000 others.

BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday pledged to work with Bosnia and Herzegovina to enhance the bilateral relationship between the two nations."We should work together to achieve this goal based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit," Wen said during his talks with Nikola Spiric, chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.Hailing the traditional friendship between the two nations, Wen said China respects the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and respects its peoples's choice of their development path.Wen hoped the western Balkan region would achieve lasting peace and stability.Wen said trade and economic cooperation between the two countries has good prospects. BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- China had raised 4.349 billion yuan (637 million U.S. dollars) of donations in money and materials for quake-hit Yushu as of Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.The donations included 3.66 billion yuan and quake-relief materials worth 686 million yuan as of 4:00 p.m., said a statement released by the ministry.The post said 635 million yuan, including 79 million yuan and materials worth 556 million yuan, had been channeled to the quake zone.It said 69,353 cotton-padded tents, 143,854 cotton-padded coats, together with other quake-relief materials, had been delivered to Yushu.At least 2,200 people died and more than 100,000 were left homeless when the 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit the Yushu prefecture, Qinghai Province on April 14.

URUMQI, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Internet services were resumed in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Friday, 10 months after a riot in Urumqi on July 5, the regional government said.In a document released by its press office, Xinjiang's regional government said Internet services were "fully resumed" in line with the region's needs for maintaining stability and boosting social and economic development.The move was also aimed at meeting the Xinjiang residents' requests for information, it said.Xinjiang has 7 million Internet users.The government expressed appreciation for the netizens' understanding and support when Internet connection, international long-distance calls and mobile phone text messages were cut in some areas of Xinjiang after the July 5 riot.Disruption of communication was aimed at cracking down on the riot quickly and prevent violence from happening again, as the riot was believed to have been orchestrated by separatists via the Internet, text message and long-distance telephone calls.Resumption of Internet services in Xinjiang has been a gradual process. Access to two leading news websites, xinhuanet.com and people.com.cn, was restored in December, followed by access to another two portal websites, sina.com.cn and sohu.com, on Jan. 10.Email services were resumed in March. SHANGHAI, April 21 (Xinhua) -- China Eastern Airlines resumed some flights to Europe Wednesday, a week after ash from a volcanic eruption in Iceland halted air travel.China Eastern resumed services between Shanghai and some European cities including Moscow, Frankfurt and Paris.The airline had canceled 17 flights bound for London, Moscow, Frankfurt and Paris from April 15 to 20, affecting about 8,000 passengers.The carrier said it used bigger Airbus A346 and A343 models to transport as many stranded passengers as possible.German airline Lufthansa resumed flights from Shanghai to Frankfurt late Tuesday. Other European carriers, including Air France, Virgin Atlantic, KLM and Aeroflot, resumed services between Shanghai and Europe Wednesday.
