(KGTV) - Two Sheriff's deputies are under an internal review after video surfaced of an arrest in the North County this week.A 911 call was made Monday from a woman on Madera Lane, who said she was a domestic violence victim and being held against her will, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Deputies responded and said they ultimately arrested Gerardo Martinez Jr., 23, and 50-year-old Gerardo Martinez Sr.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodThe younger was booked on charges including false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, and disobeying a court order. SDSO charged Martinez Sr. with obstructing a public officer and removing someone from the lawful custody of a peace officer, though he has bailed out of custody.Video of the arrest, however, soon landed at least two deputies involved with the arrest in hot water.The footage posted on social media showed one of the men being led away in handcuffs before a deputy appears to shove him into a fence. The man's face is slammed into the wooden fence before the deputy leads him away.At the same time, four other deputies hold the second man to the ground, one of them appears to repeatedly strike the man in the head. It isn't clear if the man on the ground was also handcuffed or whether the deputy struck the man with a closed fist or open hand.Two deputies have been placed on administrative assignment, pending an internal investigation, SDSO said Wednesday. Investigators will be looking at body-worn camera and interviews with those involved in the incident."As we continue to gather and evaluate the facts of this case, the internal review might change in scope. (KGTV) — A pregnant mother who fell sleep at the wheel early Saturday morning crashed into a Vista building, causing an hours-long gas leak.San Diego Sheriff's deputies say the crash occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on South Santa Fe Ave., near Civic Center Dr., at a Battery World store.A family of five was in the SUV that crashed after the driver, identified as a 30-year-old pregnant mother by deputies, told deputies she fell asleep before she lost control of the vehicle, struck a telephone pole, and crashed into the building.A 40-year-old man, a 3-year-old boy, a 2-year-old boy, and a 9-month-old girl were in the SUV at the time of the crash. The driver sustained a bruise to her forehead. No one was seriously injured, deputies said. The family was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.The crash caused a gas leak in the damaged building. SDG&E crews have since fixed the leak. The utility company said the leak did not expose the neighborhood to dangerous levels of gas, but nearby residents were able to smell the gas.No one was inside the building at the time of the crash.S. WASHINGTON — U.S. long-term mortgage rates fell this week, reaching record lows for the 13th time this year amid fresh signs of weakness in the pandemic-ravaged economy. Mortgage buyer Freddie Mac reported that the average rate on the 30-year benchmark loan declined to 2.72% from 2.84% last week. The average rate on the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage fell to 2.28% from 2.34%. The low rates in 2020 have spurred demand in the housing market. The National Associated of Realtors says housing offers for single-family homes have increased for six consecutive months. They are now at their highest level since 2007, according to the Census Bureau. Existing home sales in October 2020 were 26.6 percent higher than the number of sales in October 2019. (KGTV) - A North County man is being charged in the attempted murder of his brother, San Diego County Sheriff's Department announced.SDSO deputies said 19-year-old Juan Sixto was brought to the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound on Feb. 18. just before 9:30 p.m.During their investigation, deputies said they determined the shooting likely took place at Sixto's apartment on Pomelo Drive in Vista. There, deputies detained Sixto's brother, 27-year-old Fredy Sixto.
