SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 4.7 earthquake struck the Central California city of Gonzales Monday.The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake at 11:31 a.m., 22 kilometers northeast of the city in Monterey County.The quake was 6.2 km deep. SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) - The first rain storms of the season moved into the region Tuesday, bringing significant rainfall throughout San Diego County along with the possibility of snow in the mountains. A low pressure system to the south will make its way north and meet a colder, low pressure system that is making its way down the coast, National Weather Service meteorologist Miguel Miller said. These conditions are expected to produce rain continuing through Thursday night, with the heaviest rainfall expected on Wednesday, Miller said. An urban and small stream flood advisory was also issued through 3:15 p.m. for areas of San Diego County, including Chula Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Temecula, El Cajon, Vista, Encinitas, National City, La Mesa, and Poway.Rainfall amounts through Thursday night are expected to be around 2 inches in the mountains, between 1 and 1.5 inches in the inland valleys, around 1 inch near the coast and less than a quarter-inch in the deserts, according to the NWS. Snow levels will drop to 6,000 feet by Wednesday evening, with several inches of snow expected by late Thursday, Miller said. Temperatures are expected to remain about 5-10 degrees above average Tuesday before dropping to 15-20 degrees below average on Wednesday, he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A City of San Diego employee says she was sexually harassed by her boss on the job and now the man accused of the harassment is asking the city to pay for his legal defense.The woman says her supervisor groped her and grabbed her arm hard enough to tear open a recent surgical wound, causing it to bleed. The parks and Rec Department employee alleges that her supervisor, Frank Cardenas, sexually harassed her, even touching her inappropriately at work.Josh Gruenberg is representing the city staffer and says she has put up with enough. "He pinned her legs against her desk in her cubicle he wrapped her up in his arms and pulled her close multiple times,” said Gruenberg.The victim says she rejected every overture Cardenas made. At one point, the victim says Cardenas told her "if she wanted to get the support to grow within the city she should only care what Cardenas thinks or wants.""He really tried to get her to put his trust in him and that it would be good for her career,” Gruenberg said.The lawsuit also claims that Cardenas gripped the victim’s arm so hard that he reopened a surgical incision, causing her to bleed at work."And all of this took place in the workspace. This was not something that involved the two of them going away for a weekend. This all took place on the job,” Gruenberg said.Cardenas declined a request for an interview. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A classic Corvette nearly careened into a family's home Friday night, with a teenager behind the wheel. "Oh yea, we were just on the other side of the wall that she was just inches from hitting," said Tyler Churchill. El Cajon police say the 16-year-old driver was probably driving too fast down the hill."We have a lot of really nice cars that live up the street," Churchill said. "They come flying by all the time."She lost control, ending up with the car backward and on top of some cement blocks.Churchill and his family came running out when they heard the crash."We were all just hanging in the garage," he said. "I was changing a dirt bike tire, we heard a really long screech and a kind of gnarly crash, and we couldn't see anything because it was really dusty."Thankfully, the driver and everyone else made it out okay. "The first thing we did was run out and make sure she was ok," Churchill said. "I just can't believe she came down that driveway, missed cars by a few inches, missed my house by a few inches, I mean it was really just inches from everything, it was crazy." 1128

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A developer is going back to the drawing board after a downtown agency blasted its affordable housing proposal Wednesday. Pinnacle planned to build a 58-unit low-income apartment complex at the corner of 11th and B. It would be attached to a 32-story market rate residential tower. While the buildings would be attached, they would have separate doors, no interior connections, and few shared amenities.Civic San Diego's board of directors rebuked the developer Wednesday. "You want to put us somewhere else," board member Robert Robinson said. "Are we not good enough to get on the top floor and look out at the ocean? That's what the message is here."David Dick, an attorney representing Pinnacle, said that was a misrepresentation of the intent. "It has to do with the realities of construction, cost financing, management and ownership," he said. Dick added that Pinnacle should be lauded for its willingness to fund much-needed affordable housing downtown, as opposed to paying an in-lieu fee that could take years to yield any units.
