Grand jury recordings of the Breonna Taylor case released on Friday reveal initial interviews police conducted with Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker."I'm scared. I don't know what to say," Walker told investigators on the same day his girlfriend was shot and killed in their apartment during a drug raid by Louisville Metro Police.Grand jurors listened to a series of interviews police conducted with Walker.Walker said he and Taylor were watching a movie when the first knock on the door happened. As more knocks came, Walker told investigators the repeatedly yelled, 'Who is it?' with no response."She's yelling at the top of her lungs, and I am too at this point. No answer. No response. Nothing," Walker said. "I was scared to death."Knocking continued as they were getting dressed. Walker told investigators he grabbed his gun at that point."It's the middle of the night, [someone is] knocking on the door and not even saying who they are. What are you going to do if you're at home with your family, and somebody is knocking on your door, and you don't know who it is after you've asked?" Walker defended himself when investigators questioned him later about the gun.While walking to the door, Walker said he saw the door come off the hinges."I let just let off one shot. I still can't see who it is or anything," he recounted.Attorney General Daniel Cameron has said Walker's bullet hit Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly's thigh, but Walker's attorney has disputed the fact.Walker told investigators he and Taylor dropped to the ground when police began firing, and the gun fell from his hands. When the shooting stopped, Walker said he saw Taylor bleeding near him."She's right here bleeding, and nobody's coming, and I'm just confused and scared. I feel the same right now," he said.In questioning, investigators asked Walker about his and Taylor's history with law enforcement. Walker told them Taylor's record was clean while he had recently done jail time for a DUI. As investigators pressed Walker to answer why he believed police might be at Taylor's apartment that night, he responded that he didn't know. He said he thought someone was trying to break in."As I said, I and her have no dealings with the police," Walker said. GREELEY, Colo. — At the conclusion of his statement, Frank Rzucek, the father of Shanann Watts, said he has a message for Chris Watts, who sat silently behind him in an orange jumpsuit in court.Without turning, he read his last sentence: “Shanann says she’s super excited for justice today.”Frank Rzucek was the first person to read a statement at Monday’s sentencing hearing for Watts, who pleaded guilty on Nov. 6 to killing his pregnant wife Shanann, and their two daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, in August in the small town of Frederick, Colorado.“I trusted you to take care of them, not kill them,” Frank Rzucek said in the court. “And they also trusted you.”He said after their murders, Watts carried them out of the house “like trash,” buried Shannan in a shallow grave and put the girls in used containers of crude oil, noting that he had watched video surveillance.“You heartless monster,” he said. “You have to live with this vision every day of your life and I hope you see it every time you close your eyes at night.”Shanann’s brother, Frank Rzucek, Jr., echoed those sentiments in his statement, saying he prays Watts never finds a moment of peace or sleeps well at night. "If anything, we will come out of this stronger than we were before, and we will continue to pray for your family.”The final member of the Rzucek family to speak was Sandra Rzucek, Shanann’s mother. She started her statements by thanking those who had helped her family, ranging from the town of Frederick to the FBI. She also thanked everybody who had sent the family cards, prayers and kind messages, which came in from all over the world, she said.She wore a purple ribbon at the podium, which has become a sign to honor the memory Shannan and her children in Frederick.Shanann loved Watts and their children with all of her heart, she said. Her family was her world.“We loved you like a son,” she said at the podium. “We trusted you. Your faithful wife trusted you. Your children adored you. And they also trusted you.”They will stay protected by God and his angels, she said, and her family will continue loving them.“Not only did you take a family of four — your family of four,” she said. “You took your own life.”Watts was sentenced to five life sentences with no possibility of parole on Monday.  3496

(AP) — A California man has been arrested over allegations that he and his partners ran a billion Ponzi scheme that targeted people receiving pensions.News outlets report the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Future Income Payments LLC owner Scott Kohn on Saturday in San Diego. The 65-year-old has been on the run since March when authorities in South Carolina secured fraud indictments against him.Court filings say the company provided cash advances to veterans and others that would then be repaid by their pensions. Traders weren't told the advances had interest rates that could top 240%. The upfront money came from investors who were promised up to 8% back on their investments.An April letter to investors says about 25 states are investigating or have taken action against Kohn's company. 823
