LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — A family is grief stricken after their elderly mother's wedding ring vanished last weekend.Daughter Leanne Farrell said she took her dad to urgent care Friday and then went to work. A nurse who cares for her parents noticed Saturday the ring was missing."There were about 4 people in and out [when] the ring disappeared and it wasn't easy to get off," she said.She doesn't believe her mother lost her ring. She said it's been on her hand for 61 years, only removed from her finger for a repair or the rare cleaning.She said they tore the house apart searching for the ring and found nothing."I can't be here 24/7 for them you know? Because I have to work and you hope the people that come in to care for them, care for them like you would," she said wiping away tears.The ring went missing just a day after her parent's 61st wedding anniversary. Her father, Ken Clody's, leg was amputated after a fall two years ago and recently had to change the hours caregivers come and go to ensure he and his wife are taken care of. He also suffers Primary Lateral Sclerosis, making it hard to communicate.Farrell explained her mother has dementia and sleeps most of the day, "she can't explain anything, she can't explain who took it, when they took it, because you can see she's not with us really much anymore."Her father said he bought the ring for 0, in 1957.Farrell described the ring as two white gold bands soldered together with three diamonds, the center just larger than the others. Farrell said it's not the price they're upset by, but the sentimental value."Oh I just hope they put it in an envelope and mail it back, the money doesn't matter just the ring," she said crying.The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is investigating the loss. They have a detective on the case interviewing the caregivers who were in the home at the time the ring went missing. 10News spoke with the care-giving company who said they interviewed their employees and said those employees hadn't seen the ring.10News did not name the company as law enforcement said they are not suspected of any wrongdoing. Clody said via email several other items went missing during the same time period, but that they were easily replaceable. The health care company called 10News late Thursday saying a couple of their employees said Mrs. Clody would take the ring off and play with it and leave it places. 2414

LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - An Uber driver says she was physically assaulted by a passenger Sunday night in La Mesa after a dispute over a mask."This is definitely the most insane experience driving with Uber that I've ever had," said Tia.Just past 6 p.m. Sunday, Tia, who first started driving for Uber last summer, arrived for a pickup outside the Echo Pointe apartments.Tia says a man and the passenger's sister ushered the passenger into the car with a warning for Tia: the passenger was drunk."She didn't have a mask on ... so I asked her if she could please put on a spare mask, which I had in the back seat. Took her awhile to put it on, but she did," said Tia.As the ride got started, Tia says her passenger wouldn't let it go."She said in a very snarky tone, 'Are you more comfortable now that I have a mask on?' She was very drunk, very belligerent, yelling," said Tia.Tia say she decided to end the ride."I was fed up with the disrespect," said Tia.Tia says she returned to the pickup spot and asked her to get out repeatedly, but the woman refused. Tia recorded some of it on her phone. Tia, who eventually called 911, says when she got out of the car and reached in to remove the woman's belongings, the passenger grabbed her neck from behind.According to Tia, the passenger became violent, chasing her around the car for several minutes, at one point hitting in the right eye. Tia says the passenger's sister and the man came out and subdued the woman, allowing Tia to drive away, and meet police and file a report."I was dumbfounded. I couldn’t believe I was assaulted for essentially wearing a mask ... People need to treat each other with respect. Wear a mask ... We're just trying to keep everybody safe," said Tia.Tia says she's still feeling pain in her eye but she's feeling better. She's hoping an arrest is made so a message is sent: this behavior is not acceptable.A La Mesa Police spokesperson says they are awaiting the report to be turned in by the officer before it is assigned to an investigator. 2030

LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) — East County residents say they're behind a local dog rescue's efforts to provide for canines, but that the facility has been operating dangerously.Suzy Avalos lives next door to the Happy Hearts German Shepherd Rescue, which is run out of a La Mesa home. She tells 10News the dogs that reside in the yard have had no problem jumping the fence."You see the fence is not high. It's right up here. The dogs don't have a problem jumping over this fence," Avalos said. "I've lived here for 10 years and it's just progressively getting worse."RELATED: Disease fatal to dogs that can spread to humans on the rise in some statesWhen the dogs escape they can also be aggressive, neighbors say, with at least one dangerous incident being recorded. 10News obtained records from the La Mesa Police Department showing at least 28 instances where officers responded to the dog rescue to help round up escaped canines or help people who say they were attacked by the dogs."We have a lot of people on this street that have young kids and I'm just worried a child is going to get bit or something worse is going to happen," Avalos said. "They're out of control and she should not have a license."The woman who runs the dog rescue, Donna, declined an interview by 10News. While they support the idea of rescuing the dogs, they say it needs to be done more responsibly. LAS VEGAS — President Donald Trump's campaign has sued the state of Nevada over a new bill that expands mail-in voting in the state for the 2020 general elections.Assembly Bill 4, which was signed into law on Monday during Nevada's special session, specifies that election officials will send all active registered voters a mail-in ballot if there is a statewide emergency or disaster directive.The state's Republican Party believes Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak and the Democrat-led Legislature used the cover of the COVID-19 pandemic to introduce and pass AB4 in less than 72 hours and with little public notice, according to their press release.The lawsuit was filed late Tuesday in the U.S. District Court in Nevada against Republican Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske.Trump, who has voiced his opposition to expanded mail-in voting, has denounced the Nevada bill several times on Twitter this week. 909

LANCASTER, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man whose body was found in a stone pillar in Lancaster Saturday could be the remains of a man who ran from police earlier in the week, according to KTLA. The body was found inside a stone pillar outside the WinCo Foods grocery store on the 700 block of West Avenue K around 2:40 p.m. Saturday.Earlier that morning, a manager at the store reported a foul smell coming from the pillar. The manager called a plumber thinking there was a sewage problem.When the plumber arrived and began knocking away the pillar’s stone, a leg and tennis shoes were visible. After arriving on scene, police were able to link the body to an incident earlier in the week.On Monday, a man was pulled over after being suspected of driving a stolen vehicle, police told KTLA. The man ran from police onto the rooftop of the grocery store which, according to authorities, has access to the inside of the pillars.Police say it’s possible that the man fell or climbed into one of the pillars to escape from authorities. With a recent heat wave and the density of the pillars, police say it’s possible the man became trapped and unable to breathe. 1167
