ALLENDALE, Mich. — Hundreds of dollars in school lunch debt in Allendale, Michigan, is about to be paid off in full. That's thanks to a mom teaching her kids the value of charity and a local business who stepped in to help.Aaron Haight says she wants her children to learn to be a blessing whenever possible and that you can do that in many different ways."I wanted to give back to the community, but I also wanted to teach my kids kind of about their privilege and how important it is to give back when you are in a place of privilege," Haight said.That’s why, a few years ago, Haight's family started fundraising to pay off hundreds of dollars in school lunch debt for Allendale Public Schools."Every year, we worked with Jody who is the director of food service at Allendale Public Schools, and she would kind of tell us about how much money we needed to raise and we would raise it through friends and family and some local businesses contributed throughout the year," she explained.That was the plan again this year. That is until Trail Point Brewing Company in Allendale stepped in and pledged to pay the debt in full.Co-owner Greg Evans says he was inspired when the Mitten Brewing and Fetch Brewing did something similar.Evans said, "It's something that really hit home to me. A University of Utah senior missing for more than a week was last seen at a park where she met someone in a car, Salt Lake City police said.Mackenzie Lueck, 23, arrived at Salt Lake City International Airport on June 17 after visiting family.She then took a Lyft to Hatch Park in North Salt Lake, where she was last seen in the early-morning hours."Mackenzie was met at Hatch Park by an individual in a vehicle. The Lyft driver left Mackenzie at the park with that person and stated that Mackenzie did not appear to be in any type of distress," Assistant Police Chief Tim Doubt told reporters on Monday.Doubt said detectives are canvassing the area around the park and are looking for video surveillance. He said police have not yet confirmed the make or model of the car or obtained a description of the person."To date the family and her friends have not heard from her," Doubt said. A Tulsa, Oklahoma, woman is urging brides to use more caution when selecting a wedding photographer than she did. "I was planning this since I was a little girl and it turned out just the way I wanted it and I have no pictures," Natalie Barney said. Barney was on a tight budget for her big day. "I just wanted a small wedding, but it had to be big enough for everyone to see my pink dress," Barney said.When she saw an advertisement for an "affordable" photographer on Facebook, she clicked on it. The bride-to-be messaged April Keller, owner of Queen Bee Photography - Stillwater, who she said quoted her 0 for 100 photos. "I saw her pictures on Facebook and they looked good," Barney said. It was a photo of a bride in her wedding dress surrounded by her bridesmaid in pink dresses that caught her eye. Queen Bee's post said "Wedding Samples" and showed several other stunning wedding photos. A transgender woman whose April assault made national news was found dead on a Dallas, Texas, street Saturday morning, police said.Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 7200 block of Valley Glen Drive at around 6:40 a.m. Saturday, Dallas Police Major Vincent Weddington said."Upon arrival, officers found the complainant lying face down in the street -- deceased from homicidal violence," Weddington said during a news conference on Sunday.The woman was not carrying identification but the medical examiner positively identified her as Muhlaysia Booker on Sunday afternoon, he told reporters.In a separate April incident, Booker was assaulted by several males in the parking lot of a Dallas apartment complex, after what police said was a minor traffic accident.Victim attacked in separate assault in AprilOne man, Edward Thomas, was arrested and faces charges over the April 12 assault, but Weddington said Thomas had not been linked to Booker's death."There is nothing at this time to connect Mr. Edward Thomas and the offense that occurred yesterday," he said.
