A student at Monroe Middle School in Michigan is facing possible charges after bringing an inactive grenade to school and threatening to "blow up the school."Police were called to the school after the student showed the device to other students and made the threatening statements. Later interviews determined that he has shown it to others multiple times during the day.A school resources officer searched the student's locker and located the grenade. He noticed that it had been modified to make it incapable of detonating.Further inspection confirmed the device was not capable of exploding and did not pose a threat to anyone. The student was removed from class and taken into custody. He has been placed in the Monroe County Youth center for possession of a device that is represented as an explosive or bomb.Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Monroe Police Department. 919

According to a recent study, it is "highly unlikely" to become sick with COVID-19 after ingesting or touching food. The International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Foods studied and found "no documented evidence that food is a significant source or vehicle for transmission of COVID.""While ingestion of the virus could potentially result in COVID-19 infection, oral transmission via food consumption has not been reported," the organization said. The committee went on to say that some countries don't need to restrict food imports, test imported products, or ask companies to state their products are coronavirus-free because there's "no documented evidence" that food is a carrier for COVID.They say that the focus should be on protecting food workers, consumers, and restaurant patrons from becoming infected by person-to-person contact. 866

A White House official showed CNN documents that the official claims exonerate Dr. Ronny Jackson from some allegations that he inappropriately dispensed pills and that he wrecked a government vehicle after leaving a Secret Service going-away party. The official said Jackson has returned to the White House Medical Unit but has not returned as President Donald Trump's physician. The official says it is unclear if that will happen. Another physician has been serving as the President's doctor since Jackson's nomination. The White House military office pulled records from the General Services Administration showing three different vehicle incidents, all of which occurred during work hours, involving Jackson from 2013 through 2017. The incident reports involve a bus striking Jackson's government vehicle, a car rear-ending his vehicle and a road rage incident involving another driver banging on Jackson's window. There is no evidence in the documents provided that Jackson was drinking on the job. The official says, "there would have to be a massive cover-up or government conspiracy for him to crash a government vehicle without any paperwork."Other records provided are six audits from Walter Reed Medical Center over the last two and a half years that shows the White House Medical Unit was in compliance with securely storing prescription drugs. The routine audits did make procedural recommendations aside from being in compliance with storing medication."There is nothing [in these documents] that would make you think 'candy man' is appropriate," the official said, referring to Democratic Montana Sen. Jon Tester's claim, citing sources who spoke to his committee, that Jackson was called that for handing out medication like "candy."The official said they showed the documents "to defend the President's remarks (about Jackson) and to defend his reputation."The-CNN-Wire 1892

Actress Ashley Judd has sued Harvey Weinstein, alleging the disgraced former film executive made inflammatory statements about her that hurt her career, according to court documents obtained by CNN.Judd's suit alleges that Weinstein deterred director Peter Jackson, who oversaw the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and his producing partner Fran Walsh from working with Judd on the films, a move that not only "torpedoed" her opportunity to star in the Academy Award-winning franchise but also cost her additional work. She claims to have met with Jackson and Walsh in or around 1998 to discuss two different roles in the film, but the pair "dropped their pursuit" of her for the project after Weinstein told them the studio had "a bad experience" working with Judd, according to the lawsuit."The pathetic reality, however, was that Weinstein was retaliating against Ms. Judd for rejecting his sexual demands approximately one year earlier, when he cornered her in a hotel room under the guise of discussing business," the suit states.Jackson first revealed Weinstein's comments in an interview back in December 2017, months after Weinstein began facing a host of allegations. To date, the allegations against Weinstein range from harassment to rape, include the stories of more than 80 women and span several decades.Through a spokesperson, Weinstein, who co-founded Miramax and the Weinstein Company, has repeatedly denied "any allegations of non-consensual sex."A representative for Weinstein also denied the allegations that he smeared Judd's name."The most basic investigation of the facts will reveal that Mr. Weinstein neither defamed Ms. Judd nor ever interfered with Ms. Judd's career, and instead not only championed her work but also repeatedly approved her casting for two of his movies over the next decade," said a statement from Weinstein's attorney, obtained by CNN.Judd starred in "Frida," which was distributed by Miramax in 2002, and "Crossing Over," which was distributed by The Weinstein Company, in 2009.The statement from Weinstein's attorney also claims he "fought for Ms. Judd as his first choice for the lead role in 'Good Will Hunting' and, in fact, arranged for Ms. Judd to fly to New York to be considered for the role."Actress Minnie Driver was eventually cast in the role."We look forward to a vigorous defense of these claims," Weinstein's statement added. 2390
