CINCINNATI -- Just days after calling for a national boycott of the Kroger Co., the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. brought his fight to the corporation's front porch.The Rainbow Push Coalition Local Steering Committee invited Jackson to Cincinnati as he continues his protest over Kroger closures in predominantly black neighborhoods. Kroger closed three unprofitable grocery stores in Memphis in February, mirroring its closure of a store in Cincinnati's Walnut Hills neighborhood last year. The company said its East McMillan Street location had lost millions of dollars over years."We wrote a letter to the leadership of Kroger, and they did not respond to us," Jackson said. "This is a pattern across the country. There are enough mouths to be fed and people to be served for Kroger to stay in the community. CINCINNATI -- On Tuesday afternoon, 16-year-old Kyle Jacob Plush called 911 panicking.Over the course of a three-minute call in which he gasped, cried repeatedly for help and struggled to communicate with the operator, he relayed that he was trapped inside his car in the parking lot of Seven Hills School."I probably don't have much time left, so tell my mom I love her if I die," he said. The call ended; when the operator attempted to call back, only a voicemail responded.A deputy sent to the scene called in soon after to report that he couldn't find anyone trapped in a van. He questioned if the call had been a prank.Plush was there. He called again."This is not a joke," he said. "I am trapped inside a gold Honda Odyssey van in the parking lot of Seven Hills. ... Send officers immediately. I'm almost dead."At several points in the second three-minute call, during which the operator does not respond and loud banging or heavy breathing can be heard, he attempts to call on the Siri automated iPhone assistant without success.Around 9 p.m., according to police, a family member discovered him dead inside the van -- a death Hamilton County Coroner Lakshmi Sammarco would rule accidental "asphyxia caused by chest compression."Something -- neither Sammarco nor Lt. Steve Saunders indicated what -- had pressed so hard against Plush's chest that he suffocated.The information released by police Wednesday afternoon did not clarify the reason the first deputy to respond was not able to find Plush's van or where Plush had been inside of it. Plush's uncle, who declined to share his name or speak on camera, said Wednesday night the 911 system failed the "great kid" who had been his nephew.Plush was a student at Seven Hills, spokeswoman Christine Hedges said Wednesday morning. (KGTV) -- Chula Vista native Sally Chand always knew what she wanted to do in life: follow in her family's tradition and join the military.Chand's father, her uncles and all of her brothers were all Marines. Her grandfather served in the Army. Chand eventually joined the Marines as well. Her son followed in her footsteps. After graduating from Castle Park High School, Chand served in the Marines for 22 years. Chand made history as the first female and Hispanic war interrogator translator in Chinese Mandarin. Later in life, Chand married a Marine who served for 27 years, Sergeant Major Michael Chand. He was killed while working as a civilian contractor in Iraq. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Authorities have arrested a 44-year-old Casa De Oro man in connection with his husband's murder.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Daniel Scott Jordan was taken into custody Thursday in Reno, Nevada following a joint agency investigation involving San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force in San Diego, and the USMS Fugitive Task Force in Reno."Jordan was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility as a Fugitive from Justice and will await extradition to San Diego," said sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver.Investigators said that Jordan's husband, 38-year-old Kevin Powell, an employee of the City of Chula Vista, didn't show up for Aug. 11 "morning meetings and his supervisor became concerned.""Two sergeants with the Chula Vista Police Department went to the employee's home in the 4400 block of Carmen Drive in the unincorporated area of La Mesa to check on his welfare," said Seiver.The sergeants discovered Powell's body inside the home in the 4400 block Carmen Drive at around 1 p.m., said Seiver.Seiver said the preliminary cause of death is being withheld for investigative reasons.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330, after hours at (858) 565-5200. (KGTV) - 10News spoke Friday with the South San Diego County boy whose generous act on Halloween became a viral video.Kim Manalo reached out after her security cameras caught the boy adding some of his candy to an empty bowl on her front porch in Chula Vista.The surveillance video of the boy in his Grim Reaper costume went viral.  On Friday, 10News identified him as 15-year-old Lawrence Malot, a freshman at Olympian High School who moved from the Philippines to Chula Vista four years ago.RELATED: Kids pay it forward on HalloweenMalot explained his good deed. “It was still early and when I looked and I kind of felt bad for the other trick-or-treaters,” Malot told 10News reporter Joe Little.Malot’s trick or treat bag may soon be replenished.  People have called 10News from all over the country, saying they want to give him candy."I feel kind of proud of myself.  I just feel proud.  I'm so happy," Malot said. 972
