SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Food Bank on Thursday selected 35 nonprofit organizations around the county with the goal of giving them the food and supplies they need to continue helping families in their area.La Maestra Community Health Center provides health and support services to families from the South Bay to East County. Many of those they serve come from low-income households.Before the COVID-19 pandemic, they helped about 300 families a week. Since then, that number has doubled, and they’re now feeding close to 600 families a week.At a news conference with mayors from San Diego, Chula Vista, and Escondido, the San Diego Food Bank announced the kickoff of their “Super Pantries” program, where they have partnered with 35 pre-selected organizations.Instead of holding the mass distribution food events that they’ve done in the past, the Food Bank will now focus on providing these organizations with food and supplies.San Diego Food Bank President/CEO James Floros said, “Now with the grass roots approach, they can go into their communities and get what they need.”Each organization will also get a check for ,000. The annual preseason event will take place Saturday, Jan. 11.The Friar Faithful can enjoy concessions and a Taste of Petco Park sampling on the main concourse, a KidsFest area with games, a wiffle ball field, and a display with the new brown and gold uniforms. Other activities will be held on the field, including the popular ‘Fans Run the Bases.’ Visitors can also play catch in right field, catch fly balls in center field, and throw pitches in the visitor’s bullpen. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Sheriff's Department requested the public's help locating a North County woman who disappeared more than seven years ago.Kimberly "Kim" Jo Evans, 48, was last seen on April 30, 2013, by her mother at their Encinitas home. Evans left that morning on foot and has not been seen or heard from since.Evans was last seen wearing a green plaid blouse, green shorts, and carrying a suitcase.She's described as 5'6", weighing about 110 pounds, has reddish-brown hair and brown eyes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department is investigating a stabbing in Encanto after a victim was found with stab wounds.Witnesses tell 10News a fight broke out between two males near the intersection of 65th Street and Wunderlin Avenue, across the street from Encanto Elementary School. Their ages are unknown. One male was stabbed at the scene, he was found near the park and recreation center where children were playing, according to witnesses. The second male fled before police arrived, police caught up to him and arrested him on Massachusetts Avenue.   615
