Officers in Columbus, Ohio are crediting a good Samaritan for tripping a suspect who was reaching into his waistband while being chased by officers. The police department released video from the April 3 incident on Thursday. Cameras captured the man, who Columbus Police are calling "Bill," casually sticking out his leg outside of a public library as the suspect ran behind him. The suspect then went flying into the sidewalk, giving officers an opportunity to arrest the unidentified suspect. Police said that they recovered a Glock 9 MM pistol with a high capacity extended clip containing 29 rounds near the suspect. Columbus Police added that citizen likely saved the suspect's life as officers might have shot the suspect for pulling out the gun. In the video released by Columbus Police, Bill said that he could see the suspect was holding something from his waistband."I heard him hit and the gun went sliding out," Bill said. "He went one way and the gun went another.""Thank you 'Bill' for sticking your leg out for us," Columbus Police said on the department's Facebook page.Columbus Police did not say what the 18-year-old suspect was wanted for.  1217

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - The San Diego Humane Society is asking for the public's help in solving an animal cruelty investigation. Around 5:30 p.m. on April 29 Humane Officers received a call about a loose goat running in and out of traffic at the busy Oceanside intersection of College Boulevard and Marvin Street.Oceanside resident Scott Palmer made the call when he noticed the goat on his commute home. “I literally told him to sit and stay, don’t know what I was thinking but I tried to distract him, and then he followed me to my car," said Palmer.Palmer described him as being as friendly as a dog.A Humane Law Officer picked up the goat and then received surveillance video of the incident. The footage shows two people abandoning the goat and driving away in a 4-door, white pickup truck.“It’s ok for you to come to us, please don’t abandon your animals when you can bring them to San Diego Humane Society and we'll take care of it for you," said Dariel Walker, with the Humane Society. She says if you cannot afford the fee, the Humane Society can still help. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — A suspect has been arrested in the hit-and-run death of a 17-year-old girl in unincorporated Escondido on Saturday.Paul Anthony Lissona, 29, of Escondido, was arrested and charged with felony hit and run charges in connection with the death of a teenager early Saturday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.According to CHP, the crash happened on Mesa Rock Road near Mesa Ranch Drive around 12:30 a.m. The teenager was standing outside a vehicle parked on the right shoulder talking with four friends. As three of the individuals, including the teen, crossed the road from east to west a vehicle speeding northbound hit the teen.The teen's friends and nearby residents tried to help her, but she died at the scene. She has not been identified.CHP said at about 2 a.m. Sunday, officers located a white Toyota Highlander matching the description of the vehicle involved in the collision. CHP added that "a conscientious person heard about the incident, observed the vehicle and contacted the CHP leading to the arrest."Additional charges are pending against Lissona, CHP said. 1120

On Thursday, Louisville Metro Council passed a no-confidence resolution against Mayor Greg Fischer and gave him a list of ways to earn back the community's trust.According to CNN, the amended resolution passed 22-4.Instead of firing the mayor, the Council gave Fischer a list of actions he can work on to "restore trust between the residents of Louisville Metro and its government and ensure the safety and equality of all its residents."The list includes:Address policing policy, social inequality, environmental inequality, and economic inequality to council members, the business community, and the non-profit sectorWork with the Kentucky Attorney General to ensure the "complete investigative findings" of Breonna Taylor's death, David McAtee's death, and the civil unrest that followed are shared with the public after the investigation.
