Starbucks is closing an additional 100 stores in the US within the next year because of shifting consumer habits due to COVID-19.With fewer people working in urban centers, the coffee giant is responding by setting up more stores in the suburbs.There's also less customer traffic during the week now but that is offset by more coffee being sold on weekends.Starbucks has become more focused on drive-thru's and carryout, with fewer customers lingering inside because of social distancing.The store closings are in addition to 400 previously announced for the US, and another 200 for Canada.Still, with Starbucks planning 850 new stores at the same time, there will actually be a net gain of 50 new stores next year.No word has been released on where the new stories will be built and which stores are closing. 817

Six teenagers are walking to Memphis, Tennessee, on a symbolic journey to honor the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the civil rights hero who was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, on April 4, 1968.Their march, which started on Highway 61 near Dundee, Mississippi, is 50 miles long -- one for each year since King was killed.Five of the participants -- JaQuon Ohara, Damonte' Steele, Cameron Allison, Davonta Pate and Raphael Williams -- are black. Tammy Duckworth, who just gave birth to her second child, is attempting the rare move of changing longstanding Senate rules in order to accommodate senators with newborns.The Illinois Democrat has submitted a resolution this week that would allow senators to bring a child under one year old to the Senate floor during votes, which they currently cannot do."After many positive, constructive conversations with her colleagues on both sides of the aisle, Sen. Duckworth is glad to be able to offer this legislation to ensure no senator with an infant is prevented from performing their constitutional responsibilities -- and send a message that working parents everywhere deserve family-friendly workplace policies," said Kaitlin Fahey, Duckworth's chief of staff, in a statement provided to CNN on Monday. "She is optimistic that this will be resolved quickly."Duckworth gave birth to a baby girl on April 9 becoming the first US senator to do so while in office. The senator decided to take her maternity leave in Washington rather than in Illinois so as to be on hand and available to cast her vote, if needed.Leading up to giving birth, the senator openly expressed concerns how the Senate rules might impact her ability to do so while caring for her newborn."If I have to vote, and I'm breastfeeding my child, especially during my maternity leave period, what do I do? Leave her sitting outside?" Duckworth brought up in February during a Politico "Women Rule" podcast.There are a whole host of Senate rules that would make voting difficult for a senator while caring for her baby -- being unable to hand the baby off to a staffer, being unable to bring a child onto the floor and being unable to vote via proxy.Duckworth's resolution must first pass the Senate Rules Committee and then approved on the Senate floor to take effect.
