IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif., (KGTV) — After six grueling days on the fire line, members of the San Diego-based Strike Team called to fight the Kincade Fire are back home. 10News met with the fire crew from Imperial Beach, who said this was the first time in 11 years that they were called to assist in Northern California. Today, they were back on duty, just hours after their arrival. It's just another day at the Imperial Beach firehouse. Fire Engineer Cory Cooper, firefighter Nick Morales, and Captain Ehren Kahle are cleaning up their ride, Engine 39, after a long trip up north. "It was just kind of a gentle immersion into chaos," Kahle said. Last Friday, the three were part of a large San Diego-based Strike Team called to assist in Sonoma County. As soon as they arrived, they headed straight to the fire line. "It started out with light smoke, which progressively got worse, to a point where my engineer had difficulty seeing the road at some point," Kahle said. Buildings had crumbled, citizens were in chaos. But they were there, fighting the explosive flames, seemingly non-stop."We rest when we can," Kahle laughed. Once the spread slowed down, the team headed back home. The men arrived at 11 p.m. on Thursday. While firefighters in larger departments are given a 24-hour rest period, these guys with the small Imperial Beach department are already back on shift."We're right back to our normal routine."It's day-to-day calls like these, as well as being part of a large Strike Team that reminds Captain Kahle of the true camaraderie of the fire service. "Although I may be going out on a Strike Team with men that I have never worked with or never even met in my entire life, you can probably take a firefighter off of an engine from San Diego, Coronado, National City, or Poway, throw them onto their engine, and they will drive right into that crew and be able to function," Kahle said. IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - It's easy to see Imperial Beach is a surf town. But if you look hard enough - something else is trying to take over.Limebike is a tech company that deals in two wheels. It's been a busy week for Colin McMahon, a manager at Limebike."On Friday we started rolling them out through all the weekend and now we are up to 200 bikes through operations," McMahon said.Limebike's mobile app is launching in Imperial Beach, its eighth city."A lot of curiosity so almost every time we brought a bike out of the truck people were asking what is this bike how does it work," McMahon said.Riders download the app, enter their credit card number and scan the back of the bike they want to ride.Even 4th grader, Jacquin Hallaway, can figure it out."I think it's fun that you can like rent a bike," Hallaway said.Unfortunately, not everyone has been behaving with the bikes.Someone in Seattle stuck one on a power pole but don't count out San Diego's shenanigans."There was one that was thrown off the pier. Fortunately, it was in shallow water so we were able to retrieve it," McMahon said.Limebike says roughly 10 bikes are out of commission and each one costs several hundred dollars. If the bike weighing 50 pounds doesn't stop you from walking off with it, the alarm that triggers after 20-30 feet will.Joseph Patterson, a Limebike retriever, said the app has become the talk of the town."I come out and I make sure all the Limebikes get back we don't have them blocking the sidewalk," Patterson said. "It's caught a lot of traction lately, everyone is starting to like them it's the talk of the town here."Limebike says they're doing their best to make sure they're not in the way but it's also how they build the brand."It's part of the allure, you see the bikes on the street," McMahon said. 1840

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CNS) - A 60-year-old Huntington Beach woman who went missing while walking her dog in the Bristlecone Pine Forest in Inyo County was found alive Monday on the fourth day of an intensive search.Inyo County sheriff's officials announced shortly after 2 p.m. that Sheryl Powell had been found near the Montenegro Springs area, near the area where her dog had been found earlier in the day.``Searchers describe her as resilient and strong but exhausted after being lost in an extremely remove area above Big Pine,'' according to the sheriff's office. She was being taken to a hospital to be checked out. Powell was reported missing by her husband at about 2 p.m. Friday, Inyo County sheriff's officials said.Powell's husband told deputies they had just arrived at a campsite and she took their 5-pound, black-and-white dog for a walk while he was parking their Jeep. When he got out of the vehicle, she was nowhere to be found, officials said.Powell's husband told deputies he searched for almost an hour before contacting authorities, officials said.A California Highway Patrol helicopter with a thermal imaging device flew over the area and the Inyo County sheriff Search and Rescue team began searching immediately, sheriff's officials said. The air and ground search continued over the weekend, officials said. 1334

In a phone interview with Fox News on Monday, President Donald Trump remembered his brother Robert as a "fantastic guy" and his "best friend."Robert Trump died over the weekend at the age of 71. The president was able to visit his brother in New York before his passing."This was not a great weekend; it's very hard," Trump said. "You knew it was going to happen, but still — when it happens, it's a very tough thing.""He was a great guy, he was a tremendous guy. He was my friend, I guess they say 'best friend,' and that's true," Trump added. "And losing him...not easy."Trump said that throughout his life his relationship with his brother was free of jealousy despite growing up in a competitive environment."A lot of times in families, I hate to say it, but there's jealousy, especially among children and children who are competitive children, because he was very competitive," Trump told Fox News on Monday. "There was not an ounce of jealousy. He'd go around talking about how great this is for the country and it's so incredible. He was my biggest fan."Trump added that his brother was "thrilled" at his work as president."People would tell me all the time, 'I spoke to your brother, and your brother was so thrilled and so thrilled at what was happening and what was happening for the country,'" Trump said. "He was so angry at China because of what happened when the plague came in and they shouldn't have allowed that to happen. They could have stopped it. He was so upset by that."Later, in a gaggle with reporters prior to departing for Wisconsin, Trump said that he may hold a funeral service for his brother at the White House on Friday. 1661

I'm disappointed to confirm that we are canceling large public events through February 28, 2021 due to the public health crisis. This was not an easy decision to make. The health and safety of residents, workers, and visitors must be our top priority.— Jim #MaskUpPHL Kenney (@PhillyMayor) July 14, 2020 310
