DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A woman in Florida is being charged with animal cruelty after being caught on video throwing a dog off a motel balcony.The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shared body cam footage of the incident when they announced the arrest of 35-year-old Allison Murphy on Tuesday.Warning: Some may find the video below disturbingOfficers say they responded to the Dayton Beach motel around noon Monday after staff reported that Murphy had been standing over a railing and threatening to jump. She also allegedly attacked a maid.When law enforcement arrived, Murphy reportedly locked herself inside her room. After knocking several times, the sheriff’s office says the women came out with a leashed German shepherd, which she picked up and threw over the railing to the ground.Authorities say the dog landed feet first and ran away before being corralled by bystanders. It was then turned over to Volusia County Animal Services, who nicknamed her “Miracle,” because no name was provided.“Miracle” was taken to an animal hospital for emergency evaluation. She thankfully escaped serious injury, but an x-ray did reveal a sewing needle was lodged one of her thighs, according to the sheriff’s office. She underwent a procedure to remove it and is recovering in the care of a foster family, who wants to adopt her if a court grants animal services custody.As for Murphy, the sheriff’s office says she was taken into custody and will be facing felony charges of animal cruelty and resisting an officer with violence. 1528

DESCANSO (KGTV) -- A San Diego County couple is warning others after getting a flat tire from an unusual source. Pamela Jessup was running errands last Thursday morning when she says she started hearing a thumping noise while driving her Toyota RAV4 on SR-79 near Old Highway 80.Jessup says it was then that she pulled over and looked at her back tire. After not seeing anything wrong, she went on her way.The thumping, however, only intensified after she drove onto Interstate 8. When she drove home, Jessup says her husband Davis found a temporary lane marker stuck, nailed in to the tire.While doing their due diligence, the Descanso residents found dozens of temporary nail markers along the side of the road in the same area Jessup ran into issues.A local tire shop was able to fix the damage to the tire, but it cost the pair . Other residents in the area took to social media to complain similar events that happened to them in the same area.On Facebook, at least three others said they also got flat tires after driving through the area.From Tuesday through Friday, neighbors reported a road construction project that included restriping.On 10News at 5, we follow David Jessup as he makes the journey to the Caltrans subcontractor for answers and to give them back their lane markers. 1313

DEL MAR (CNS) - Two horses that died when they collided while training at the Del Mar Racetrack last summer were processed into animal by-products instead of being taken to a UC Davis Animal Health and Safety Laboratory per protocol, it was reported Friday.The two horses killed in the July 18 head-on collision -- Charge A Bunch and Carson Valley -- were taken to a rendering plant near the El Sobrante Landfill in Corona, where they were processed into products such as fertilizer and bone meal before their remains were sent to the landfill, the Los Angeles Times reported."I got a call first thing in the morning after the accident saying the horses never arrived," Dr. Rick Arthur, equine medical director for the California Horse Racing Board, told the newspaper.Del Mar track officials got a call from the California Horse Racing Board because, by statute, it is the track's responsibility to get the bodies to the testing laboratory, according to The Times, which reported that an investigation found that Stiles Animal Removal was at fault for the mistake."The owner of Stiles admitted that he forgot to inform the new driver of this requirement (to take the remains to the state lab)," according to a CHRB investigators report.Mike Martin, spokesman for the CHRB, told the newspaper he contacted Mac McBride, Del Mar's media director, one day after the mistake was discovered and they spoke the day after that."Mac said that Del Mar would make an announcement as soon as a CHRB investigation was complete," Marten told the newspaper.Del Mar has made no public statement since the investigation concluded, but a statement by Chief Operating Officer Josh Rubinstein was given to The Times last week."As soon as the CHRB made us aware of the error by the contractor responsible for transport to the necropsy facility, Del Mar responded immediately and appropriately, including terminating that vendor," Rubinstein said. "Although the error was made by a vendor and not Del Mar personnel, it is our responsibility to see that the proper protocols are followed. (KGTV) -- High winds in the Descanso area knocked over two big rig trucks early Thursday morning, prompting emergency crews to rescue people trapped inside.At around 4 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers were called to eastbound Interstate 8 near Japatul Valley Road after reports a semitruck toppled over due to the strong winds swirling in the area.Two people were removed from the truck and taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.Moments later and a few hundred feet away, crews rushed to another big rig that was knocked down by the winds.Crews broke the truck’s windshield and extricated a man, woman and dog trapped inside the cab. It is unknown if the couple and dog were injured.A High Wind Advisory was issued for I-8 from Lake Jennings to Forrester Road; high-profile vehicles are prohibited on that stretch of I-8. 872
