(KGTV) — Police have arrested a North County doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient.On March 28, Escondido Police say a woman reported being sexually assaulted while unconscious by Dr. Leng Thai Ky, a 40-year-old anesthesiologist from Poway.EPD detectives investigated the woman's report over the weekend, and arrested Ky on Monday with the help of the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force.Ky, a doctor for the last eight years, has associations with Palomar Hospital, North County Pain Institute, Sharp Community Medical Group, Graybill Medical Group, and the Desert Pain Clinic in Rancho Mirage, EPD says.Police believe there are more, unidentified victims of Ky and urge anyone with information to call EPD at 760-839-4790. 760

(KGTV) -- A driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 15 in Escondido was ejected from her car after crashing into a freeway zipper machine early Wednesday morning.At around 12:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received multiple calls about a car going southbound on northbound I-15 near Via Rancho Parkway.Moments later, the CHP was notified that the vehicle crashed head-on into a zipper barrier machine.CHP officials said the female driver was thrown from her car and landed about 30 feet from the wreckage. The woman’s Toyota was completely destroyed on impact.ABC 10News learned the woman was unconscious when she was rushed to the hospital. (KGTV) - The FBI and Escondido Police asked Thursday for the public’s help to find three men suspected of robbing a North County bank.The takeover-style robbery happened just before 10 a.m. on May 23, according to FBI Special Agent Davene Butler.The group backed an SUV against the front doors of the San Diego County Credit Union, 1875 S. Centre City Parkway, and went inside the bank.Investigators said the men were wearing masks and displayed handguns, ordering employees to lie on the ground, the FBI reported. Two of the men pointed their guns at different employees and demanded access to the vault. (KGTV) - Neighbors in Encinitas are warning people about the dangers of the Sago Palm after two dogs on the same street passed away from sago poisoning.Ronnie Steinau says her dog, Luna, died within 24 hours of eating some seeds from a Sago Palm."She was the happiest, tail wagging, loved everyone and 'she's the kind of dog that everyone loved because she was so sweet," Steinau says. "We had her for about a year. We miss her."After posting about Luna on social media groups, Steinau learned a neighbor had a similar experience."We had no idea there was something so deadly all around us," says Alissa Dalaut.Dalaut says her dog Saber ate some sago palm seeds in December and died a few days afterward, despite aggressive treatment from her vet."We felt horrible, and we wished we would have known how toxic and how fatal and how dangerous these plants are," says Dalaut.According to PetMD.com, the sago palm contains a toxin called Cycasin. It can cause severe liver damage. Other symptoms of sago poisoning include:VomitingBlood in fecesBloody diarrheaIcterus (yellow coloration of skin and gums)Increased thirstIncreased urineBruisingBleeding easily (coagulopathy, DIC)Neurological signs such as depression, circling, paralysis, seizures, comaDeathThe toxin is found in the sago roots, seeds and leaves. She has since had them all removed. Steinau also had a sago palm removed from her backyard and has plans to cut down another on her porch.Now the two women are warning others of the dangers in their neighborhood."If you have them in your yard and you have children or pets, you're asking for trouble," says Steinau.Steinau would also like nurseries to do a better job of telling people about the dangers associated with sago palms and other trees when they're sold. Employees at the Buffalo Museum of Science found something they didn't know they had in their collection.According to Kathy Leacock, director of collections, that isn't difficult to do considering that the museum has over "700,000 items in their collection."What they found was an egg from the now extinct Elephant Bird. It's huge to say the least, weighing 3 1/2 pounds. The egg was not really lost, it was just thought to be a model or a replica. That's how it had been mislabeled for many years. "We found in our documentary evidence that's it's been here since 1939," Leacock said. There are only a handful of the rare eggs in existence.The Elephant Bird is believed to have gone extinct around the 17th century.
