BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- A seminar was held Monday on the recently-published book of important documents from between April, 1948 and January, 2009 of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's political advisory body. The seminar was held Monday on the recently-published book of important documents from between April,1948 and January, 2009 of the CPPCC, China's political advisory body. This year marks not only the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China but also the establishment of the CPPCC. The book consists of 142 important documents which are divided into three volumes. Some documents are being made public for the first time. BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- The China Economic and Social Council(CESC) wants to boost exchanges with Niger's Economic, Social and Cultural Council (CESOC), a senior Chinese official said Friday. Wang Gang, chairman of the CESC and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks when he met with the chairman of the CESOC Amadou Cheiffou in Beijing. Both councils grouped experts in social and economic development, Wang said, and could learn from each other, as they deepened cooperation. BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- A Senior Chinese official on Friday called for fresh efforts to furnish occupational security for police and take good care of their relatives. Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with representatives of the relatives of police officers who died on duty. More than 10,000 police officers died on duty with honor in the past 60years, and more than 150,000 more had been injured when protecting the country's social stability, Zhou said. He urged Party, government and police departments at all levels to take into account of the occupational hazards of the police and take measures to provide better treatment for them. The livelihood of the relatives of police officers, especially those who died on duty, must also be secured, Zhou said. He urged the police to live up to the people's expectations and make new contributions to the Party and the people.

NEW YORK, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao met with his South Korean counterpart Lee Myung-bak here on Wednesday morning on the sidelines of the UN meetings to discuss bilateral ties and other issues of common interests. Hu said thanks to their joint efforts the two countries have seen steady progress of exchanges and cooperation in various fields in recent years. All consensus reached between them have been implemented smoothly, with some already bringing about remarkable results, Hu said. Hu noted that the two countries have maintained fine communication and coordination in regional and international affairs, adding that China is ready to join hands with South Korea to strengthen strategic communication and expand mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to bring concrete benefits to both peoples and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in Northeast Asia. Thanks to their joint efforts, China and South Korea have seen a rapid growth of bilateral links since they established diplomatic relations 17 years ago. The heads of state of the two countries exchanged visits last year. They agreed on establishing a strategic partnership of cooperation in May 2008, opening up a new era in bilateral ties. They met again on the sidelines of the financial summit of the Group of 20 (G20) in London in April this year. China and South Korea are both important neighbors and cooperative partners. Now China is the top trade partner, export market and source of imports of South Korea.
