Times Square was a hive of activity Tuesday afternoon, as more than 40,000 bees swarmed a hot dog stand at the corner of Broadway and West 43rd Street.Known as an absconded hive, the bees were looking for a new home to escape the sweltering heat, said Officer Darren Mays, one of the New York Police Department's two official beekeepers."The hive got overcrowded because it was hot and humid and they just needed a new place to go so they can keep cool," Mays said. He also runs the official NYPD Bees Twitter account, which was buzzing with likes and retweets as many New Yorkers learned that their police force had beekeepers on staff.Mays said the bees likely went looking for a new home after leaving one of the rooftop hives of a nearby building.Second-beekeeper-in-command, Officer Michael Lauriano, responded to the scene in full protective gear, including a netted bee helmet. It took Lauriano 45 minutes to carefully vacuum the bees. The street was cordoned off and no injuries were reported, according to the NYPD.Mays confirmed the bees have been safely stored in a hive box and are being transported by police van to an apiary on Long Island."Unfortunately, they won't be able to make any honey this season," said Mays, explaining that they will have to be well fed to make it through the winter.Mays, who has served since 2014 as the NYPD's beekeeper in addition to his regular duties, said this has been one of the slowest bee seasons in recent years. (AP) — New Mexico authorities say multiple people have been killed in a commercial passenger bus crash along Interstate 40.New Mexico State Police did not say how many people died or how many were injured in Thursday's crash.They said passengers were transported to a hospital and a phone number was set up for family members seeking more information about people who were aboard the bus.The wreckage included a Greyhound bus with front-end damage and a semi-truck that was on its side and with its cargo strewn across the highway and the median.Greyhound says the bus was heading from Albuquerque to Phoenix and there were 47 passengers on board.Spokeswoman Crystal Booker says it's unclear what caused the crash.The crash forced the closure of the westbound lanes of the interstate and traffic was backing up as travelers were being diverted. 866

The team worked Monday through Thursday, taking every Friday off. The hours were not made up throughout the week. The team worked four 8-hour workdays.They looked at three main things: performance, culture, and mental health."Performance stayed the same and was constant over the course of the experiment compared to previous performance," said Benitez.Culture, he says, slightly improved at the Denver-based company. People felt just as or a little more connected to members on their team.Lastly, to no surprise, mental health improved."I know that our best work comes when our team is healthy when our team is mentally healthy, when our team is aligned and in touch with each other," said Benitez.Benitez says there’s a different mentality that his employees bring in when they have a four-day workweek. You have to be really thoughtful about how you structure your time. There's an upsurge in approved carry concealed weapon (CCW) licenses in San Diego County. Data provided to Team 10 by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department shows a more than 300 percent increase from 2017 to 2018.Advocates say most people want the ability to protect themselves while opponents argue more people carrying guns doesn't make the streets any safer.Team 10 collected 100 "good cause" statements to examine what reasons people gave to obtain the license.
