DESCANSO (KGTV) -- A San Diego County couple is warning others after getting a flat tire from an unusual source. Pamela Jessup was running errands last Thursday morning when she says she started hearing a thumping noise while driving her Toyota RAV4 on SR-79 near Old Highway 80.Jessup says it was then that she pulled over and looked at her back tire. After not seeing anything wrong, she went on her way.The thumping, however, only intensified after she drove onto Interstate 8. When she drove home, Jessup says her husband Davis found a temporary lane marker stuck, nailed in to the tire.While doing their due diligence, the Descanso residents found dozens of temporary nail markers along the side of the road in the same area Jessup ran into issues.A local tire shop was able to fix the damage to the tire, but it cost the pair . Other residents in the area took to social media to complain similar events that happened to them in the same area.On Facebook, at least three others said they also got flat tires after driving through the area.From Tuesday through Friday, neighbors reported a road construction project that included restriping.On 10News at 5, we follow David Jessup as he makes the journey to the Caltrans subcontractor for answers and to give them back their lane markers. 1313

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — The re-extension of a facial covering directive in Palm Beach County, Florida is being called "medical tyranny" by some opponents who took to the streets Saturday afternoon in Delray Beach to display their frustrations.Chris Nelson, the lead organizer of the "Reopen South Florida" rally, points to statistics that show the county's mortality rate has fallen."What we're seeing right now is a dangerous precedent," Nelson said. "If they can tell me that I cannot buy or sell anything without a mask on, they can tell me that I can't buy or sell without proof of a vaccine, that I took a vaccine, and it could go on and on."During Tuesday's presentation to county commissioners, Dr. Alina Alonso, head of the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County, told commissioners there are encouraging signs when it comes to the county's COVID-19 positivity rate, which has decreased over the past two weeks. Additionally, there have been no coronavirus-related deaths since Oct. 7.However, she cautioned that 50% of new cases in the county are people ages 35 to 64. The new facial covering extension is in effect until Nov. 22."The mortality is going down, but we don't know what the residual impact is going to be on people, whether the damage to their lungs is going to be long-term," Palm Beach County Vice Mayor Robert Weinroth said Tuesday.According to the CDC, studies have shown that the use of masks has been proven to slow and prevent the spread of COVID-19. DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK, Calif. — An automated measuring system in California's Death Valley reported a temperature of 130 degrees amid a blistering heatwave on Sunday.The reading would be among the highest ever recorded globally if it is confirmed.The National Weather Service says the high was recorded at 3:41 p.m. at Furnace Creek near the park's visitor center.It's the same location where the world record high of 134 degrees was recorded in July 1913. That record, however, is disputed.The Washington Post reported that in 2016, an expert analysis determined that the 1913 reading was "essentially not possible from a meteorological perspective." DENVER, Colo. - Air traffic in and out of Denver International Airport was impacted Tuesday afternoon following COVID-19-related cleaning procedures at an FAA facility on airport grounds, a DIA spokesperson confirmed to Denver7.DIA said they were in a ground stop for only a few minutes around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The airport was on a ground delay or traffic management up until 6 p.m., delaying inbound traffic.The stop happened due to COVID-19-related cleaning in an FAA facility on airport property after an FAA employee tested positive for the virus. Air controllers were moved into a backup room to clean the main room. DENVER – Shanann Watts’ family has sued Chris Watts to try and keep him from ever profiting off the deaths of their daughter or granddaughters.The lawsuit when Watts was sentenced to life in prison without parole, is a wrongful death claim intended to help the family recoup funeral expenses, the loss of Shanann’s future income and give them compensation for ongoing emotional distress stemming from the killings of Shanann, her daughters Bella and Celeste, and her unborn child.The family’s attorneys say that the family and Shanann’s estate are entitled to economic and non-economic damages under Colorado law, and the lawsuit asks that the family be able to amend the claims in the future. That will likely amount to thousands of dollars in restitution, District Attorney Michael Rourke said last week.One of the family’s attorneys, Steven Lambert, said last week that the point of the suit was to keep Watts from profiting off the case in the future should he write a book or try and get money from the sale of their house.“He cannot profit from any inheritance that he would normally receive from Shanann,” Lambert said. “On top of that, any proceed that he might derive from a sale of a book – he would not be able to keep any of that. Also, any assets that he might receive once we get a judgment from the court, we can file any liens and get things like that on any assets from here into the future.”The lawsuit says that Shanann’s father, Frank Rzucek, is also entitled to similar claims because Watts pleaded guilty to unlawful termination of a pregnancy for killing his and Shanann’s unborn child, whom the family called Nico.Watts pleaded guilty to nine counts in the case and received three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, in addition to several more consecutive and concurrent sentences for other counts.He was transferred this week to a Denver facility to undergo mental and medical evaluations before he is sent to prison. 1982
