(KGTV) -- A woman died early Sunday morning after her vehicle rolled over on a North County road before being struck by several other drivers suspected of driving under the influence.According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of SR-78 near Mar Vista Drive.CHP says the 33-year-old woman from Oceanside was driving her Toyota Carolla when she veered off the road onto a dirt shoulder. When the woman tried to regain control of the vehicle she hit the center divider wall, leaving the vehicle disabled.RELATED: Pregnant mom who fell asleep at the wheel crashes into Vista building, causing gas leakAfter the crash, a 54-year-old man from San Marcos struck the Corolla, ejecting the woman from her car. The 33-year-old driver of the Corolla died at the scene, CHP said, and the 54-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. According to officers, after the second crash, a 38-year-old man also from San Marcos crashed into both of the vehicles previously involved in the crash. The driver and two passengers were taken to the hospital.The drivers of the vehicles involved in the second and third crashes are both suspected of driving under the influence.The District Attorney’s office also responded to the scene after being requested by officers to aid in the investigation.SR-78 west is currently closed. (KGTV) - The 12-year-old survivor of a plane crash in Valley Center is praising her uncle, the pilot who died in the crash.A smiling photo of Raquel Contreras was taken moments before her uncle, Peter Bierle, a seasoned pilot, took her up in his single-engine, experimental aircraft on an early Sunday evening. They were above the home of her friend for a birthday flyover when it happened. More than two weeks after the crash, Contreras spoke to us from her hospital room. She says some neighbors got an early warning."The plane hadn't even crashed, and they were getting ready because they heard engine failure," said Contreras.RELATED: Pilot killed, 12-year-old girl badly injured in small plane crash in Valley CenterA traumatized Contreras didn't want to talk about the crash, but her family says her uncle told her to, "Get down low and hold on."Witnesses saw the plane dive toward the yard, away from buildings, before it crashed."I want to honor Uncle Peter. It's amazing what he did, and I wouldn't be here if he didn't land and crash like he did," said Contreras.Bierle died at the scene. Dozens of neighbors rushed to the plane, burning fuel nearby."Just want to thank everyone on Palomar Vista Drive ... Amazing how everyone came together in the end," Contreras said.Contreras was cut out of seat belt and rescued. That seat belt was a 4-point harness belt, courtesy of her Aunt Connie."Right before the flight, she put in a new seat belt and checked my buckle," says Contreras.The last-minute addition may have saved her life. Raquel was hurt badly, with injuries to her eye and spine, and fractures to her skull, sternum, and hand.Two surgeries later, a determined Contreras is now beginning her long road to recovery."We've just been taking steps slowly and steadily," she said.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help the family with expenses.The NTSB has yet to release its initial findings on the crash. 1954

Two suspects allegedly dismembered a missing soldier's body and attempted to burn it after she was bludgeoned to death, according to a federal criminal complaint released Thursday.Guillen went missing from Fort Hood on April 22. Human remains were found in connection with her disappearance earlier this week.The two suspects in the case have been identified as Spc. Aaron Robinson and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Cecily Anne Aguillar of Killen, Texas.The Army has confirmed that Robinson died Wednesday morning of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during an interaction with police. Aguillar is currently in custody in the Bell County Jail.According to the affidavit, on April 22, Robinson said he texted Guillen to inform her he was in the arms room at Fort Hood. The message is the last known text message Guillen received to her phone.In the message, Robinson told Guillen to read serial numbers for equipment and afterword he gave her paperwork and the serial number for a .50 caliber machine gun that needed servicing.Robinson said Guillen left the arms room, and he believed she would have gone to the motor pool. Witnesses at the motor pool prepared to receive paperwork from Guillen claimed she did not arrive with the paperwork.The affidavit says witnesses later saw Robinson pulling a large "tough box" with wheels, that appeared to be filled with a heavy object.On June 30, Aguilar told authorities that Robinson told her that he had hit a female soldier in the head with a hammer multiple times in the arms room, killing her, the affidavit says. UNIVERSITY CITY (KGTV) - A man led police on a short vehicle pursuit, before crashing into a canyon and running away. The pursuit started just before 9 p.m. Sunday night on Genesee Avenue and Governor Drive. The man was parked in a vehicle blocking a driveway to a business, according to San Diego Police. He was running up and down the street and took off in a vehicle when police arrived. Police pursued him for about 10 minutes, before he crashed into a canyon near the end of Governor Drive and Travers Way. The man immediately got out and ran into the canyon. According to police, the driver is a Hispanic male in his late 20s, 5'8", with a shaved head, short sleeved shirt and hoodie, and gray shorts. 730
