SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The majority of residents at Reo Vista Healthcare Center in Paradise Hills have COVID-19, according to officials with the facility.A total of 112 residents have tested positive, according to the facility’s administrator Curtis White. 40 staff members also tested positive for COVID-19. White confirmed 14 residents have passed away. Of that number, five died in local hospitals.The facility holds 135 residents.Juanita Gomez was one of the residents who tested positive. Her son told Team 10 she passed away July 1st.The state strike team assisted in expediting testing for residents and staff, White said. They have visited the facility three times.Cesar Noriega’s 90-year-old mother also tested positive. She is currently in the hospital dealing with COVID-19 and other health related issues. “She’s not doing well. She’s in a lot of pain,” Noriega said. Noriega said he urged early testing at the facility, but his pleas for help went ignored. He is now trying to figure out where his mother can get care after she is released from the hospital.“I’ve gone through elation, through depression, to anger… this is almost on a daily basis,” Noriega said.White said “most of the individuals with COVID are experiencing mild or no symptoms.” 13 residents and 23 staff members have recovered.“Our top priority remains the health and well-being of everyone in our facility,” White said. 1409

"Pretty sure the rent's pretty up there," said Arthur Reynoso, walking by the building on Thursday. What most people don't know, however, is that 45 of the 224 condos in the building are affordable - to own. It's rare for one to come on the market, but a handful do each year. In fact, one is about to sell for 5,341, which is about 40 percent off the median condo price of 6,000 in North Park. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Marine Corps reported an E.coli outbreak Tuesday among more than 300 troops at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.The diarrheal illness has affected 302 of approximately 5,500 recruits at the base. The cases had tapered off in the past week but a spike was reported Monday.Ten recruits were admitted to an off-base medical facility while the remainder are being cared for at MCRD. The source of the outbreak is under investigation, according to the Marine Corps."Our immediate focus is identifying, isolating and treating recruits who present symptoms," said Brig. Gen. William Jurney, commanding general, MCRD San Diego and the Western Recruiting Region. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The county's average price for a gallon of gas eclipsed for the first time since May 22, according to AAA.The average price of regular gas in San Diego spike 9 cents Saturday and has risen 10 of the last 12 days for a total of 35.8 cents, according to AAA.Since last month, the average price is up more than 40 cents.MAP: Click here to find the cheapest gas in your areaIn California, however, the statewide average sits at .95 a gallon.
