Twitter is about to get more words -- a lot more.The company announced on Tuesday it is doubling how many characters users can cram into a tweet.Most tweets will now fit 280 characters, up from 140. The new limit will roll out to Twitter users in almost all 40 languages Twitter supports.In late September, Twitter began a test of 280-character tweets with a small group of users.Like many Twitter changes, some users complained about the move.Interestingly, Twitter said that after the novelty of tweeting more characters wore off, most people in the test stopped tweeting the full length.According to the company, only 5% of tweets sent from people in the 280-character test group were longer than 140 characters, and just 2% were over 190 characters.The new character length won't apply to Japanese, Korean or Chinese-language tweets. Those languages can convey twice as much information in less space, so tweets will remain at 140 characters, Twitter said.Of course, the change means America's highest-profile Twitter user, President Trump, will have more space. Twitter cofounder Biz Stone had said the prolific Twitter user was not in the test group.The move modifies a fundamental aspect of Twitter. Aside from the test, the social network's character limit hasn't changed since the company launched in 2006.The 140-character length wasn't a random choice: Twitter's founders wanted tweets to fit in a text message, which can only hold 160 characters. So Twitter chose 140 characters for the tweet, and 20 characters for the user name.During the 280-character test, some users argued Twitter should focus less on the length of the tweets and more on the content. Two California men were taken into custody for reportedly dancing naked on a boat near Lake Havasu in Arizona on Saturday.According to a release from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Jason Michael Faust and 37-year-old Robert Paul Yow were each arrested for felony indecent exposure. Officials say deputies had received a call that Faust and Yow were seen dancing naked on their boat at The Sandbar, north of Lake Havasu. The caller told authorities that three children, all under the age of 15, were present during this incident. When the family tried to confront Faust and Yow about their behavior, they reportedly became aggressive, and, "continued to show their genitals to the family."As deputies arrived, they observed that Faust, who was the driver of the boat, was inconsistent with his speed and made erratic changes in direction. Officials say both men reportedly admitted to taking their clothes off. Neither acknowledged knowing that children were present at the time, officers reported. Faust reportedly told deputies, “It’s the lake, it’s just what you do," and admitted that he had been drinking around since 7 a.m. but would not submit to a breath or field sobriety tests.  1267

Under Armour announced on Thursday about 150 million accounts on the popular health app MyFitnessPal were hacked.The company said it learned four days ago that an unauthorized party accessed MyFitnessPal user data in February and it has begun notifying affected users of the security breach."Under Armour is working with leading data security firms to assist in its investigation, and also coordinating with law enforcement authorities," the firm said in a press release. "The company will be requiring MyFitnessPal users to change their passwords and is urging users to do so immediately."The affected data includes usernames, email addresses and hashed passwords. The company doesn't collect Social Security numbers or driver's license information, and payment card data wasn't affected because the company said it's collected and stored separately.MyFitnessPal is a mobile app used to track meals and exercise. (KGTV) - As the dual-threat of wildfires and climate change grows, one company says an old method of home building could be the answer to both problems.Rebecca Tasker is the CEO of Simple Construct. Her company builds homes out of straw bales.And, yes, she's heard all of the jokes."I've heard every single 'Three Little Pigs' joke you can think of," Tasker says. "Some good ones, some not so good ones."But the idea of straw bale homes is serious to Tasker."These homes, once they're plastered, are more fire-resistant than conventional homes," she says.The secret is in the construction. Tasker uses high-grade straw bales that are packed solid. She says that makes them like phone books, so they smolder instead of igniting in flames. Also, the plaster her company uses to cover the walls is made from dirt, clay, and more straw. The mixture gives the homes a 1-2 hour fire-resistance rating. Most homes only get a 30-minute rating."The oxygen can't get in to burn," Tasker says.In addition to the fire resistance, Tasker says the homes are environmentally friendly. The thick bales provide a two-foot layer of natural insulation. That blocks sound to 50 decibels. It also keeps the warmth in during the winter and the heat out during the summer."We're actually sequestering carbon in the walls," she says of the process. "We're helping to reverse climate change with these buildings. And as people start to put those two things together, we're getting a lot of business."Tasker says straw homes have been around for more than 100 years and came to California in 1996. Now, she estimates more than 60 are in use in San Diego County.She says the size of the bales can be a drawback, as it takes up valuable square footage on smaller lots. She also doesn't recommend building any higher than two stories.As for bugs or rodents, Tasker says they can't get into the walls because of how densely packed the bales are.Even the interior walls, which are typically made from traditional wood and studs, are packed with the straw/clay mixture.The construction price is comparable to conventional homes with similar insulation and efficiency ratings. Tasker thinks the idea will catch on as more people become more aware of the way these homes can help the planet.As for the little pigs jokes, she wrote a book called "The Story of the Fourth Little Pig."
