ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tropical Storm Iota formed Friday in the Caribbean and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it approaches Central America. This is the 30th named storm in 2020's record-breaking Atlantic hurricane season.The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Iota could bring dangerous wind, storm surge and rainfall to Nicaragua and Honduras by Sunday night. Iota currently has sustained wind speeds of 40 mph and it is expected to strengthen as it approaches land.The National Hurricane Center predicts Iota will bring 20-to-30 inches of rain across the Nicaragua and Honduras border, and could drop 4-8 inches of rain across portions of northern Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica. Eta then regained strength and soaked the west coast of Florida before moving into the southeast states and causing severe flooding in North Carolina on Thursday. (KGTV) — Video captured Friday showed another bluff failure in the Solana Beach area, weeks after a series of small bluff collapses.Kelly Nelle captured a small bluff failure at a site that appeared taped off due to a previous bluff collapse. No one was injured.Several parts of Fletcher Cove were taped off in August as sandstone tumbled about 75 feet down to the beach. It isn't clear if Friday's collapse was at the same site, but the area was already taped off and appeared to have a pile of sediment at the base of the cliff side.In late August, Torrey Pines beach goers were warned of bluff collapses after a section fell to the ground. In early August, a massive section of rock fell in Encinitas, killing three people.As temperatures rise and bring more locals out to the coast, officials cautioned visitors to walk 25 - 40 feet away from all bluffs and not to walk around barricades because large rocks could still fall.Video from Friday showed some smaller rocks falling before the larger section fell onto the Solana Beach spot. 1068

John Lewis.The board voted Thursday to rename Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia — a Washington, D.C. suburb — after the late congressman and civil rights leader.A news release posted on the school district's website says the new name will be effective for the 2020-21 school year."Rep. Lewis was a champion of the Civil Rights movement, and our Board strongly believes this is an appropriate tribute to an individual who is a true American hero," School Board Chair Ricardy Anderson said in a statement. "We will also honor his life's work by continuing to promote equity, justice, tolerance and service in the work that we do.""The name Robert E. Lee is forever connected to the Confederacy, and Confederate values are ones that do not align with our community," said Tamara Derenak Kaufax, a board member representing the high school's district. "Our schools must be places where all students, staff, and members of the community feel safe and supported. SOUTHPORT, Ind. -- The health department is investigating, and an employee has been fired after a customer received raw chicken from a Dairy Queen in Southport, Indiana.Zach Cruse said he picked up some food at the drive-thru at the Dairy Queen off Southport Road just before the restaurant closed around 10 p.m. Friday night.When he got home, he realized he didn’t exactly get what he had ordered.“I got a couple bites in and was like, this doesn’t taste right,” said Cruse. “I looked at it – ripped it open and realized it was completely raw.”Dairy Queen says after receiving the complaint from Cruse they immediately contacted the Marion County Health Department. They also fired the employee involved because they say they failed to check the temperature of the cooking chicken before serving it.The Marion County Health Department said they investigate every complaint they receive, and they plan to go out and check the restaurant’s procedures to see if there are any issues with their food preparation process.“I just don’t want somebody else to eat raw chicken and I don’t want to eat raw chicken,” said Cruse. “If it happened at Dairy Queen, how much gross food have I eaten that I’m not aware of because I just have trusted that the food I’m going to get is going to be safe?” 1304

SHEBOYGAN, Wisc. -- A Sheboygan dad was arrested for OWI after his two toddlers fell out of his van and were seriously injured.Police said it happened Tuesday just before 7:30 p.m. near 8th Street and Indiana Avenue. A witness told police the two children fell out of the van as it went through an intersection. Officers were eventually able to identify the children who were one and two years of age.A short time later police located their father -- who said he was not aware they had fallen out of the van.He was then arrested for OWI and Child Neglect.One child was treated and released from a local hospital. The other child was transported to a Milwaukee area hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.  764
