SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after they say a man was stabbed while sitting on a bench at Balboa Park early Sunday morning.The stabbing happened on the 2000 block of Park Boulevard at 12:26 a.m. Police reported that the suspect walked up to the 29-year-old victim and asked him for a cigarette.After telling the suspect he didn’t have one, the victim was stabbed in the neck, according to police.The wound was non-life threatening and the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police say.Police are still looking for the suspect.   The assailant is described as a tanned Asian male wearing a blue jacket and about 5'5" tall. 684

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was killed and several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash late Wednesday in the Bay Park area.CHP received a report of the multi-car crash just before 10 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near the SeaWorld Dr. off-ramp. Some passengers involved in the crash pulled themselves from the wreckage before CHP officers arrived.San Diego Fire-Rescue said eight people total were taken to a nearby hospital. At least one person died.It wasn't clear what led to the crash. CHP officers closed the off-ramp for several hours overnight to investigate. 587

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More rain arrived in San Diego Wednesday, less than a week after a storm swept through the county, leaving some areas flooded and city crews preparing for the wet weather.In Coronado, on First Street, crews worked to clear pipes near the shoreline. This is a large reason for flooding in the area. Public Services Director, Clifford Maurer, says flooding comes after sand and sediment gets into the storm drain from the high tides.“Some of the outfalls, the pipes that go into the bay or into the open waters have flapper valves on them. So they only allow water to go out, not come in,” says Maurer. “But when the water is above those valves there’s nothing you can do. The bags are already filled and can be picked up at four different locations around the island.The City of San Diego is also preparing for the rain. A bevy of surveillance and streetlight video was released during the preliminary hearing for Kevin Cartwright and Lorena Espinoza, accused of killing of Tony Radda, 49.October 2018. Just before 3 p.m., store surveillance video shows a woman wearing a purple wig and sunglasses enter the store.Video shows Radda and the woman going towards the back, possibly to show her some merchandise. Right away, a man in a mask is seen trailing behind them, lurking. When Radda and the woman return, the man in the mask attacks Radda, dragging him out of camera range. Prosecutors believe that is when Radda was shot several times and killed.Soon after, the masked man is caught prying open a cash register. Prosecutors say while the woman took off in an SUV; the man walked away.According to prosecutors, that walk was captured by a string of streetlight cameras. In one of the videos - about 12 blocks away from the store - the man in the mask sheds it, revealing a face, police eventually identified as Cartwright. On Friday, the judge is expected to decide whether the two will go to trial. 1206

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly 140 pounds of liquid methamphetamine and two pounds of heroin were discovered inside a vehicle’s gas tank and spare tire at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection says.According to the agency, the drugs were discovered after a detector dog alerted officers to the undercarriage of the vehicle around 4:30 a.m. Monday.Following the alert, officers guided the driver, a 52-year-old woman who is a citizen of Mexico and lawful U.S. resident, to a secure location for inspection.RELATED: Previously-deported sex offender arrested by Border Patrol in San DiegoThat’s when, according to CBP, officers found the drugs hidden inside the gas tank and spare tire.The driver was turned over to agents with Homeland Security Investigations while a 71-year-old female passenger was released.The narcotics are estimated to have a value of 5,000. 901
