Ticketmaster is reportedly exploring ways for concertgoers to return to shows safely amid the coronavirus pandemic.According to Billboard, one way is to verify that they've been vaccinated or tested negative for the virus before attending a show. The ticket-selling company said they'd set up a way for the customers' test results to be sent to third-party health companies. Through its digital app, Ticketmaster would tie those test results or vaccination status to a ticket digitally that'd be used to enter events, Ticketmaster president Mark Yovich told the outlet.According to Yovich, concertgoers would be required to get tested approximately 24 to 72 hours before a show.Billboard reported that Ticketmaster would not have access to users' medical records nor store their results or medical information. The company added that they'd only receive notification that fans have been OK'd to attend an event on a specific date. 936

TOPEKA, Kan. – Republican Rep. Roger Marshall has won an open Senate seat in Kansas in a tougher-than-expected race that saw his Democratic opponent far outraise him.Marshall is an obstetrician who has represented western and central Kansas in Congress for two terms. He prevailed against Democratic state Sen. Barbara Bollier.Marshall entered the campaign with the GOP’s traditional advantages in a state that tends to vote for conservatives. Republicans haven’t lost a Senate race in Kansas since 1932. But Bollier, a former Republican, excited Democrats and raised more than million to set a Kansas record that Marshall couldn’t match.Bollier pitched herself as an independent and common-sense centrist, but Marshall portrayed her as too liberal for Kansas.Marshall will succeed retiring four-term Republican Sen. Pat Roberts. 841

This time of year, many people get Cinderella complexes and worry their financial lives will unravel if they don’t pay their tax bill by the stroke of midnight on April 17. There was a disturbance in the Force at the box office this weekend.Disney and Lucasfilm's "Solo: A Star Wars Story," a prequel film about the origins of Han Solo, made an estimated 1 million domestically for its four-day weekend opening which includes the Monday holiday, according to Disney. That makes "Solo" the smallest opening for a "Star Wars" film since 2002.The number, while being the biggest Memorial Day Weekend debut in the last four years, is also solidly under industry expectations. Initial projections on Tuesday had the film bringing in 0 million to 0 million in North America. Those projections were adjusted down on Friday to 5 million to 5 million.Overall, the film made 8 million worldwide. "Rogue One," Disney's other "Star Wars" spinoff that was coming off the huge success of "The Force Awakens," made 0 million globally for its debut in December of 2016.So even though 1 million is still a solid opening that most film franchises would love to have, success is judged differently for the galaxy far, far away."Anytime the numbers come in lower than projections, there is a feeling of disappointment and the 'Star Wars" brand for better or worse is always subject to lofty box office expectations," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at comScore. "That sometimes even puts a film that opens with around 0 million under scrutiny."So what happened? For "Solo," it could be a mixture of things from brand fatigue?(the last "Star Wars" film was just in theaters five months ago) to the film facing more competition in the summer season. The Memorial Day weekend, which has in recent years struggled to get audiences to leave their BBQs and head to the movies, could have also played a factor. So what do the returns for "Solo" mean for the franchise going forward?"The franchise will be fine," Dergarabedian said. "The long wait until 'Episode IX' is actually going to be a good thing for the franchise... a bit of breathing space is needed to build back up the huge excitement that every 'Star Wars' film deserves." 2096
