SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The remains of a 79-year-old man found in a fire pit on Fiesta Island have been identified.The remains were identified as Elias Rene Rodriguez, of San Diego, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner. Rodriguez's remains were discovered by a passerby on Oct. 29 at about 10:30 a.m. on the east side of Fiesta Island. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego State University Police Department, along with its allied agencies, is stepping up patrols after a string of robberies.Students and non-students have been targeted in recent weeks on and off-campus.At 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, three students were robbed by at least two people. Their phones and a set of keys were stolen.On Monday, just before 7 p.m., another person was robbed while walking along the sidewalk near Lindo Paseo and College Avenue. Police say two suspects pushed the victim down and stole their phone.“Avoid distraction and stay alert, if they see suspicious activity call us right away," said Raquel Herriott, Community and Media Relations Specialist with the SDSU Police Department.Students have also been targeted through the Offer Up app which connects buyers and sellers to household items.Police are looking for a suspect in the Offer Up cases, named Anthony Joseph Green. This year marks a few important milestones for families and survivors.A settlement announced one day before the three-year anniversary, meaning 0 million will go to victims and families.Also, Nevada’s Governor Steve Sisolak added two more to the list of people who died as a result of the shooting. She lost her eye and now three years later, has had seven surgeries and now has a prosthetic eye. She said because of the chaos of physically healing the past few years, this is the first anniversary where she’s been able to grieve more.“I was going through so many surgeries and having so much at the time of the first and second that it kind of kept my mind so busy and so focused on that, and I tried so hard not to feel but this year I feel it a lot more,” said Romo.Doctors thought Romo would lose her sight and speech, but she defied those odds. There is still a long road to recovery for her, but she’s thankful for the life she’s been blessed with. So when my friends said hey let’s go to the movies tonight, let’s go bowling, it was like I automatically knew I couldn’t do that. I knew I couldn’t be in that closed place,” said Huizar.Huizar added that the news of the settlement has added a little bit of closure this year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Port of San Diego is kicking off another season of Waterfront Summer service.The service, which is now in its seventh season, provides transportation along the waterfront for per day.The shuttle, provided by the Port, will connect visitors and residents to businesses and attractions along the waterfront.According to the Port, the shuttle runs on a loop every 20 minutes from the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island to Harbor Drive Bridge with several stops in between.The shuttle will run every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the summer season.
