RANCHO SANTA FE (CNS) - Authorities Friday were searching for a driver who fled after crashing a Ferrari into a power pole in Rancho Santa Fe, knocking out electricity to 84 customers in the area.The crash, involving a 2012 Ferrari, was reported shortly before 10:20 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Avenida de Acacias and La Granada, California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt said.The crash caused the 40-foot power pole to fall to the ground, leaving 84 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in the area in the dark, SDG&E spokesman Wes Jones said.As of 8:30 this morning, electricity had been restored to all but three customers, who were expected to be back on line by noon, Jones said.The northbound and southbound lanes of Avenida De Acacias were expected to be closed from La Granada to Via De La Cumbre until around 3 p.m. while crews worked to replace the power pole. 903

RANCHO PENASQUITOS (KGTV) - Teens playing basketball in Rancho Penasquitos said they were robbed Saturday night. Police said during the pursuit of a car that matched the description, it crashed and rolled onto the roof.One suspect was injured from the crash as he was not wearing a seatbelt. He was trapped in the car and arrested.Police say two other suspects, identified as a black man in his 20s and a Hispanic man in his early 20s fled the vehicle.K9s searched the area for the suspects.Ed Solis, the father of one of the boys who was robbed, said it was his son's 18th birthday and they were celebrating at home.Toward the end of the party, the guys wanted to play basketball at Views West Park. They left their belongings in a pile and noticed a group of men stealing their wallets and phones.The teens went after the attempted robbers and were able to catch one. Solis said one of the men came back and threatened the boys, saying he had a gun and would "smoke them."The boys let the man go and then called Solis about the robbery. He rushed over, and found all the boys were safe and unharmed, but shaken.Officers caught up with the suspect vehicle at 14500 Penasquitos Drive where it flipped.Some of the boys got their items back, while others did not. 1319

President Donald Trump told lawmakers on Thursday he was scrapping a planned pay raise for civilian federal workers, saying the nation's budget couldn't support it.In a letter to House and Senate leaders, Trump described the pay increase as "inappropriate.""We must maintain efforts to put our Nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and Federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases," the President wrote.An across-the-board 2.1% pay increase for federal workers was slated to take effect in January. In addition, a yearly adjustment of paychecks based on the region of the country where a worker is posted -- the "locality pay increase" -- was due to take effect.Trump said both increases would no longer happen."I have determined that for 2019, both across the board pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero," he wrote.He stressed the change wouldn't affect the federal government's ability to attract qualified workers, and wrote the government would focus on "recruiting, retaining and rewarding high-performing Federal employees and those with critical skill sets."The implications of Trump's decision on the locality pay increase were not immediately clear. Workers based in more expensive parts of the country are paid higher salaries to compensate for the higher cost of living.In his letter, Trump wrote the locality increase in 2019 would average 25.70% and cost the federal government billion. But he did not say whether the locality adjustments already in place would remain in effect and the White House did not immediately clarify.Pay for military personnel will not be affected by Trump's decree; instead, US troops are due a 2.6% pay increase next year.
