Some nonprofits are trying not to lose sight of their mission during these times.Last year, social justice music echoed off the walls of classrooms. It was part of the work done by Motivate and Encourage Music Appreciation (MeMa Music), an arts-integrated social justice education group that aims to empower youth in underserved communities to use their voices to advocate for social justice and change. They help build students’ understanding of how artists have crafted messages of social change that encouraged speaking out.But the founder, Jeanne Warsaw, has run into an artist block this year with the pandemic. Although virtual learning has become more commonplace, it’s not that easy for the arts.“It’s very difficult, especially for the arts non-profit that specifically teaches instruments or sculpture or paintings,” Warsaw said. “It’s hard to transfer to remote learning.”Warsaw says many school districts aren’t hiring groups like theirs because they’re focused on implementing their curriculum. SpaceX has brought two NASA astronauts home from a historic mission.Robert and Behnken and Douglas Hurley — the first astronauts to travel into orbit aboard a commercially developed spacecraft — returned home in a splashdown mission Sunday, the first such mission in America in 45 years.They've been onboard the International Space Station for two months after launching in the SpaceX Crew Dragon from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.Their spacecraft is nicknamed Endeavour."For the most part, we've had pretty good luck with, with Endeavour," Hurley said. "As far as on-orbit testing is performed, just like it did for launch and rendezvous. Several people were hurt in an "inmate-on-inmate" disturbance at CoreCivic's Red Rock Correctional Facility in Eloy, Arizona on Sunday morning.Twelve inmates were taken to outside medical facilities for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and one staff member was treated and released for minor injuries sustained in the incident, according to Jonathan Burns, CoreCivic's Director of Public Affairs.Burns says the disturbance happened just after 8:30 a.m. local time.The facility has been secured and all inmates and staff are accounted for, Burns said. CoreCivic is working with the Arizona Department of Corrections and local law enforcement as they continue to investigate.   724
