As the debate over voting by mail continues, President Donald Trump told a North Carolina news outlet that voters should test election safeguards by voting both in person and via mail, something which could cause voters legal issues.Trump has expressed doubt in mail-in voting during the 2020 election cycle, claiming that mail-in voting is prone to fraud. So that’s the way it is. And that’s what they should do.”In North Carolina, it is a Class I felony to vote twice. The National Conference of State Legislatures has a list of laws pertaining to “double voting” on its website. At least one airline is starting to pull back on their cleaning regimen. Southwest crews are limiting their between-flight cleanings and leaving most of the passenger areas for the overnight cleaning crew, according to reports.Following the coronavirus outbreak in March and subsequent travel bans, airlines touted their stepped-up cleaning protocols as passengers returned.Starting in August, Southwest is focusing on lavatories and tray tables between flights, leaving seat belts, arm rests and other areas for the overnight cleaning crew, Southwest representative Ro Hawthorne told the Dallas Morning News."Since flight schedules have increased, other areas of the aircraft will be disinfected during our overnight cleaning process, when Southwest Teams spend six to seven hours per aircraft cleaning all interior surfaces," Hawthorne said in a statement.“As always, Southwest will monitor customer and employee feedback as we adapt to the new normal in air travel, while ensuring we keep safety as our top priority,” the statement continued.In March, Southwest announced their cleaning program included "interior windows and shades, every seat belt buckle, passenger service units (including the touch buttons that control reading lights and vents that direct personal air), as well as seat surfaces, tray tables, armrests, etc."The change to cleaning protocol will reduce the time an aircraft spends on the ground between flights, the airline told flight attendants in a memo obtained by CNN. 1505

As scientists learn more about COVID-19, they are realizing that how people react to the virus could be based on the body's response to viruses like common colds.Meharry Medical College President Dr. James Hildreth says some studies are showing some individuals have T-cell responses to COVID-19 even though they never been exposed to it.He is talking about recent research revealing that some people may have immunity defenders called T-cells which could determine how their body reacts to COVID-19.According to the CDC, when the body fights an infection, the immune system remembers what it learned about how to protect the body against that disease.The body will retain a few specific T-cells known as memory cells - that will alert and help the immune system identify and produce antibodies to attack the foreign germ if it enters the body again."Viruses that look alike can sometimes elicit the same kinds of immune responses," said Hildreth.Hildreth says there are six strains of coronavirus that affect humans going back to the 1960s and some result in seasonal common colds.He says if you were infected with one of these viruses in the past it can determine the severity of the toll COVID-19 would take on your body now."There’s the possibility that a response to one of them gives you a partial to another because they have genetic similarities," said Hildreth.Hildreth says this doesn't mean a person has complete immunity to COVID-19."There’s strong evidence that you may not be immune to the virus, but you’ll have an immune response that recognizes SARS partially just because those two viruses look so much alike."Hildreth says this can help with treatments and even vaccinesThis story was originally reported by Kelsey Gibbs at WTVF. 1756

AURORA, Colo. – Police confirmed Monday afternoon that the man they shot and killed early Monday morning is believed to have shot and killed another man who’d broken into his home minutes earlier.The police shooting happened around in Aurora, Colo. Officers had been called the house on reports that a man had broken into the home.“Officers arrived to a very chaotic and violent scene,” Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz wrote in a news release issued Monday afternoon.Metz said officers who arrived at the scene heard gunshots inside the home and ran into an armed man. An officer shot the man, who died at an area hospital.After clearing the scene, according to Metz, officers found a juvenile injured inside and a man shot dead on the bathroom floor. The child was taken to a hospital for “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries” caused by the intruder, he said.Both men’s identities will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office, Metz said. The officer who shot the resident of the home is on standard paid leave.The investigation into the shooting will be conducted by the Aurora Police Major Crimes Unit, the Denver Police Department and the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Police are also asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to call Detective Randy Hansen at 303-739-6710.“This is a very heartbreaking and tragic situation for everyone involved.
