(KGTV) - All evacuations and road closures have been lifted after a fire in Otay Mesa scorched hundreds of acres and tore through a pallet yard Thursday. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said in a tweet Thursday evening that crews would mop up the burn area overnight while checking for hot spots. No structures were lost in the blaze and no one injured. The fire, named the Caliente Fire, broke out about noon at Otay Mesa Road and Caliente Avenue. The San Diego Fire Department initially reported that crews stopped forward progress of the fire at around 3 p.m., but the blaze reignited moments later, eventually spreading to a pallet yard. According to fire crews, the pallet yard housed 80,000 pallets. Thick, black smoke could be seen flooding into the air from Moreno Pallets in Otay Mesa. Four helicopters, two fixed-wing aircraft, four strike teams and the original San Diego Fire first alarm team battled the blaze, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The Southwestern College Higher Education Center in Otay Mesa was also evacuated due to the blaze. According to a spokesperson with the college, San Diego Police entered the college and told everyone to evacuate immediately. All night classes at Southwestern were canceled. San Ysidro High School was designated as the evacuation center while the American Red Cross provided supplies. So to be able to look out of the window and see this, it's just an everyday reminder that we're not untouchable," said Marnicca Gomez, who lives at a nearby complex. (KGTV) — A man taken into custody last week after he was involved in a San Marcos crash and authorities discovered a dead body in his pickup truck has been arrested for murder and turned over to Anaheim Police.Anaheim Police say Abdulaziz Munther Alubidy, 30, was booked into Anaheim Detention Facility and is being held without bail.The San Sheriff's Department says Alubidy was involved in a crash just after 4 p.m. late Friday at San Marcos Boulevard and Rancho Santa Fe in San Marcos. When deputies responded and looked inside his Toyota Tundra pickup truck, they discovered the body of 56-year-old Jessie Villesca of Anaheim.RELATED: One person is dead after car crash in San MarcosDeputies said Villesca's injuries indicated she was murdered. Alubidy was detained at the scene.Anaheim Police were contacted after deputies say they found evidence indicating Villesca had been killed near W. Corporate Way and N. Tijuana is the most dangerous city in the world, according to a report by the Citizens’ Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice. The Los Angeles Times reports that five cities in Mexico are among the most dangerous in the world. The list includes Acapulco, Victoria, Juarez, Irapuato and Tijuana. The report was published shortly after the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico issued a warning to people traveling for spring break. The alert warns of dangers including unregulated alcohol, sexual assault, medical emergencies and breaking the law in Mexico. According to Journey Mexico, more than 10 million people visited Mexico during the first quarter of 2018. Cancun is one of the top destinations in Mexico for spring breakers. (KGTV) - A man identified as the son of San Diego convicted sex offender Matthew Hedge was arrested on child molestation charges Wednesday. 34-year-old Shaun Crocker, born as Shaun Hedge, is suspected of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department."Crocker knew the 13-year-old victim and at this time no other victims have come forward," officials said.He is being held on million bail and is due in court Thursday.Crocker has a history of at least 15 criminal arrests in San Diego and Texas dating back to 2003. None of the accusations were linked to sexual conduct; Crocker was arrested on suspicion of fraud, burglary, and taking a vehicle for a joyride, among other reported crimes. The alleged victim's mother said Crocker is Matthew Hedge's son.Matthew Hedge was convicted in 1989 of molesting two girls and two boys in San Diego. He was treated at a state hospital and released to San Diego County in 2005. Hedge was originally placed on the grounds of Donovan State Prison in Otay Mesa but returned to the hospital less than a year later after admitting he spoke to girls and had a deviant fantasy about a child. After his second release, restrictions on where Matthew Hedge was allowed to live were lifted and he moved to a downtown residential hotel with his wife. 1343

(KGTV) — Disneyland and California Adventure have announced that both theme parks will close starting Saturday through the end of March amid the coronavirus outbreak.While there have been no reported cases at either theme park, both locations were being closed "in the best interest of our guests and employees," following Gov.
