YAOUNDE, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has met here with Cameroon's Prime Minister Philemon Yang with both vowing to further develop bilateral ties.During their meeting on Wednesday, Hui said since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cameroon 40 years ago, the peoples of the two countries have stood together through thick and thin and enjoyed the steady development of bilateral ties featured with political mutual trust, frequent exchange of high-level visits and increasing volumes in bilateral trade.Hui said the friendly cooperation ties between China and Cameroon are in the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples and contribute to the common development of the two countries.He said China is willing to work together with Cameroon so as to push the bilateral ties to a new high.Hui also made five-point proposals on developing the China- Cameroon ties which include further consolidating the political foundation of bilateral ties and continuing to understand and support each other on the important issues of core interests and common concern, further expanding economic and trade cooperation with China continuing to encourage its enterprises to cooperate with Cameroon in the sectors, among others, of infrastructure construction and air transportation, boosting agricultural cooperation and explore the ways and means of strengthening and deepening agricultural cooperation between the two countries, enriching the people to people and cultural exchanges of the two countries and considering to sign the new implementation plan of the cultural accords between the two governments at an appropriate time and strengthening the cooperation and coordination between the two sides in international affairs and working together to maintain the interests of the developing countries.For his part, Philemon Yang said in the past 40 years, Cameroon has always regarded China as a friend that can be trusted and the two countries have conducted cooperation in various areas.The prime minister said that his country is pleased that China has kept creating economic miracles, and that China has shared its development achievements with the world so as to realize the win- win.Philemon hoped that China will provide more aid to Cameroon in the sectors of irrigation works and highway construction.After their meeting, Hui and Philemon attended the signing ceremony of four accords including the economic and technology cooperation accord between the two governments.

BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese ministries and local governments have coordinated efforts to combat price hikes by increasing grain supplies, clamping down on speculation and offering subsidies, as the central government has growing concerns about rising inflation.In a move to head off price hikes, the State Administration of Grain will increase sales of grain supplies to meet the public's needs and stabilize market prices, the agency said in a statement posted on its website Friday.Additionally, it will sell a set amount of cooking vegetable oil and soybeans from government reserves beginning next week, in addition to the weekly sales of wheat, rice and corn that has already begun, the statement said.The authority will also send groups of staff to major grain production regions to inspect and guide purchases of autumn grain and regulate business practices, it added.The statement said the move was designed to protect farmers' interests and maintain moderate prices in the grain market.Further, the Ministry of Agriculture announced Friday that it will work to add 8 million mu (0.53 million hectares) of planting areas for vegetables and 2 million mu for potatoes to stabilize agricultural production and increase vegetable supplies during the winter.Also, Zhou Bohua, head of the State Administration of Industry and Commerce, said the administration will "seriously" work to prevent the hoarding of agricultural products, forcing up prices and other speculative practices.These measures echoed the central government's call to tame price rises.China's State Council, or the Cabinet, on Wednesday announced price control guidelines to reassure consumers facing rising inflation.The efforts mainly included imposing temporary price controls on important daily necessities and production materials when necessary, and urging local authorities to offer temporary subsidies to needy families.In addition, the government will work to ensure market supplies and strengthen market supervision.Local governments also unveiled specific measures intended to help people pressured by the higher cost of living. BEIJING, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese lawmakers have heard a series of the State Council's reports on the development of ethnic minorities, and regarding the country's health care reform and service industry, at a meeting Wednesday during the bimonthly session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.The meeting was presided over by Ismail Tiliwaldi, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.A total of 150 NPC Standing Committee members, including Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, as well as other vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee attended the meeting.Commissioned by the State Council, Yang Jing, minister in charge of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, said in a report to the NPC Standing Committee that the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the central government's supports in policy, planning and funding for the ethnic minority groups and regions had yielded remarkable achievements in the country's economic and social development.In the report, Yang also pledged that the government would continue to step up infrastructure development in ethnic minority regions and spend more on education, medical services and poverty relief.Zhang Ping, director of the National Development and Reform Commission, delivered a report on deepening health care reform at the meeting.The reform had achieved various levels of progress in promotion of medical insurance, grassroots medical services and equal access of health care services for the public, Zhang said.Zhang noted that the government would further expand the coverage of the medical insurance system, intensify supervision over medical service providers and make more progress in the reform of the country's publicly-owned hospitals.Zhang also delivered a report on accelerating the development of the country's secondary industries. GABORONE, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said here on Monday that China is satisfied with its relations with Botswana.In a meeting with Botswana's President Ian Khama, Xi said the bilateral ties have developed steadily and fruitfully and that both sides have kept close coordination in the international arena.Xi, who arrived in Gaborone on Saturday for an official visit, noted that bilateral economic cooperation has maintained a good momentum in recent years, and Botswana has become one of China's vital partners in Africa."The Chinese side is satisfied with the development of bilateral ties," Xi was quoted as saying by a press release issued by the Chinese delegation.He said China values its ties with Botswana, noting that China will continue to enhance political trust, expand economic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchange with Botswana."I believe the China-Botswana friendly cooperation is sure to have a promising future," he said.The Chinese vice president also praised Botswana for its active role in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, calling for joint efforts to push forward the smooth development of the forum.Botswana is the final leg of Xi's four-nation trip to Asia and Africa.
