But after the pandemic hit, they overhauled the design to ensure it was a space employees not only wanted to go to but could feel safe in.The new campus will incorporate touchless features throughout the buildings, like doors and water bottle filling stations. They're creating outdoor meeting spaces with heaters and shades so that they can be used year-round. And inside, they're investing in the best available HVAC systems for air filtration."I'm learning at all this stuff as we go, but we're looking at hospital grade stuff. The perspective we took is there's always going to be flus and colds, so why not do these things that will help keep people from spreading disease," said Carr. In addition to having their own socially distanced desks, employees will have designated areas separate from visitors, including the kitchen. One building will be the epicenter of conference rooms so they can be easily cleaned more frequently."Certain things never change. AURORA, Colo. — Three Aurora Police Department officers who were fired last week over their involvement in taking a picture in front of the memorial for Elijah McClain while mocking the chokehold officers used on him before his death, then sending it in a group text, have appealed their dismissals.Officers Erica Marrero and Kyle Dittrich both submitted their appeals on Wednesday, Aurora spokesperson Michael Bryant said. The Aurora Civil Service Commission will next schedule hearing dates within 15 to 30 days, though those hearings could be pushed back if extensions are filed.Marrero and Dittrich were two of the three officers pictured in the photos taken last October. A third officer in the photos, Jaron Jones, resigned last week before he could be fired.And on Thursday evening, Bryant confirmed that a fourth officer involved in a group text in which the photos were sent, Jason Rosenblatt, who was also fired because he responded "ha ha" to the photos, had filed an appeal over his termination.The fired officers had 10 days to file an appeal from last Friday.“It is my prerogative," Aurora’s Interim Police Chief Vanessa Wilson said in announcing last week the terminations. "And the public outcry and demand for justice for Elijah — they don't deserve to wear a badge anymore. Authorities say a seventh grader who died by suicide inside a northeast Ohio middle school bathroom last week planned to carry out an attack on the school.According to Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink, the Jackson Memorial Middle School student admired the Columbine shooters and had an eight-step plan to carry out an attack.The boy "intended to conduct a school shooting and harm others," Brink said. On Feb. 20, police responded to Jackson Memorial Middle School in Stark County after receiving a call about a student who had shot himself in the boy's bathroom.According to the medical examiner's office, the boy died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.Security cameras captured the 13-year-old on video coming out of the restroom with a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle he had brought to school under his clothes.
